I dunno about Fed but in WA you can look it up on the Jail website. Run by state.

Try googling "who is in jail ******" replace the asterisks with the town you are hunting in.

I spent a night in jail in Virginia Beach 20 years ago because I did not have enough money for bail for a speeding ticket. According to the requirements I can sign up for these sites. COOL!
