Picking up this 06 MCS this weekend to replace the VW GLI I just sold.

Nice! My Mini was a fun little car. Not fast, but definitely fun.

I plan on keeping out of the garage just in case it bursts into flames;)

Yeah, I was doing some research on them when I was interested. I think the auto-box has some issues, along with the timing chain ramps.

The 07 and newer have the peugot motor and there have been isssues with failing chain tensiors causing rattling noises when cold and sometimes engine failure.

Also the 07-08 MCS Turbo have reports of fires since a heat shield was not installed until 09

Why'd you ditch the GLI? Was it a mark IV (understandable then ;) or markV?

I've had the 05 GLI since new and wanted something different

Looked nice too.. My SIL had a mark IV... it was tiny in back. I have a markV and its been a great car. No MCS though ;) enjoy!

Nice, I'm currently shopping for the same year 06, last of the SC, had one wish I never sold it.
