Got ripped off by seller near Springfield, Illinois

I sent $800 for some Wurth tools.... I sent payment back in November. Nothing has arrived and after a number of times of trying to contact the seller for a tracking # that the seller was supposed to have, none of my emails and phone calls get answered now.

I think the fact that this seller knows I am not near springfield is giving the impression that they can get away with this.

Is it worth having somebody stop by the business to put some pressure on them to provide a tracking # or refund me. I could pay anybody for there troubles.
Or could some body in the area call from a local telephone area code, he is screening my phone #.

PM me if you want jerks phone #.

This is the idiots website
Business website WELCOME TO WATERWORKS INDOOR GARDENING ILLINOIS BEST HYDROPONIC ORGANIC VEGAN SOIL SOILESS WATERFARM MICROGARDEN GARDEN CENTER.
This is the sellers facebook page 24 Hour Hydroponic Store 217-553-6929 on Myspace

Any advice on what to do ?

First off call the police in that town and tell them the story. Ask if they can contact the seller and advise him that he is about to get into "hot water" and hopefully that might help.

Otherwise have some friends stop by and have a discussion with him. Usually does not take more than one time.

Thanks for the reply.

I would for sure have a friend stop by but I know nobody in that area and I am 2000 miles away.

If you call the police, have a cancelled check ready to fax to them. And, to the police, it's your word against the seller's whether the items shipped. But, the seller should have some kind of tracking no. However, they can always say that they dropped the tools in a big box, put a whole lot of stamps on it parcel post and dropped it off at the PO. At that point, you will have to take the initiative.

I think this is why PayPal is worthy in some cases.

Of course if you call the cops, they may ask some uncomfortable questions about the hydroponic grow-op stuff you ordered....

I didn't know Wurth made hydroponics "tools".

I'd definitely go for the refund. Even if the guy sends tools, he may not send all of them or the right ones.
Several years ago I bought a windshield from a guy it seemed like everybody knew about & bought windshields from on Ebay. At the pick up depot, I had them open the carton and the windshield was smashed. I refused delivery & contacted the seller who said he'd get another one shipped ASAP. Then the same thing that is happening to you happened to me. I lodged a complaint with the Atty. General of the state - Indiana I think. That didn't go anywhere & when I finally called the Atty. General's office, I found out they actually didn't have authority to take any action or enforce anything on these consumer complaints. So I asked the lady I talked to if she could recommend a local attorney I could contact. She did & the guy turned out to be a really good guy. He empathized and started some legal action to rattle the guy's cage. He used his paralegals and charged me that rate. In the end, it cost me almost as much as the windshield, but I got a refund on the windshield and some satisfaction too.

Unhappy A bad start to 2012>Sorry

Another resent case of a pelican sending money and not getting; or finally getting a broken or just plain juke (Lars radio). Lets hope the police are of some help, but I agree with Zeke, this is why in some cases using Paypal is the only way with a seller you don't know/trusted. Thanks for post the issue for all to see and learn from! Please post what he is listed as (user name), we don't other getting screwed!

You sent $800 bucks to a guy who supplies stoners in a state where growing pot is illegal? Sure, he's probably a good risk and he always operates on the up-and-up.

If you sent USPS money order, I would be opening a fraud ticket with your local postoffice. Paypal, you might get lucky. Any other method, not so much.

This has nothing to do with you but:
There has been a guy in PA running a scam where he sells parts the doesn't have, insists on payment through Western Union, will deliver personally in week or so etc etc. I talked to one of his attempted victims a couple of days ago who sent a Western Union money order for some parts. He paid for it with a Visa. The parts didn't arrive in 3 weeks, so he filed the paperwork with Visa and got a charge back against Western Union. Western Union got burned and THEY are going after the seller/crook.

Just so you guys know the full story.

I unfortunately found this idiot on Ebay, the seller had a Wurth DBS tool. I call the phone # in this listing eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

and the seller tells me that he was the old WURTH rep for the Illinois area but was no longer working for them. He tells me stories about supplying porsche Race teams and Drag strip teams with Wurth supplies so he seems honest.

I ask if he has a few other items ( big mistake) that I was looking for (WURTH seam sealer gun and a WURTH Multi sprayer) that I need for my project. We agreed on a package deal and he agreed to end the ebay listing.

At the time I knew nothing of the Garden Supply website and still have no idea what the items on that website are used for. I only checked the website because every time he answered the phone he answers " waterworks, steve here".

So that is the full story about how I found this idiot. I honestly thought the Garden supply store was something like a Home Depot..... another mistake on my part.

I'm probably the closest to Springfield of any Pelican. PM me if you need someone to drive down there. Springfield is a good 100 miles from here and I'm pretty busy, but I could probably find the time if need be.

Guys,

Thanks again for the replys... I was away yesterday on a road trip to buy some 911 parts for my project.

As much as I would like to drive a tank through his front door, I dont think it would be a good idea to physically have any pelicans go there and involve any of you with this.

Maybe a phone call from a local area code would work because the seller is 100% not answering my emails or phone calls.

whats even more annoying is that I mentally visualize this goofy looking idiot walking off with my money a few times a day.

This is so frustrating

you need to contact the Fraud Unit in the state consumer protection agency -- often part of the state Attorney General's office
