Good score. Keep us posted on the car please, I've always been interested too.

Nice. I'll never forgot that I was offered a Lotus 7 and trailer for ~7,000 in the mid/late 80's. I was in high school. It might as well have been $70,000 ask.

Is the pic from your house? Pretty cool to have an MGA(?) as a stable mate.

Congrats.

Now that is funny. I remember sitting in a (new) Elise in a dealer showroom soon after they came out. I had to really think about how to get out of the thing. If the top had been on I think I would still be in it. Didn't think of a "monkey roll"!

A 7 is definitely on my bucket list too, BTW. I haven't driven one, but I am sure it is one of the most pure driving experiences you can have in a street-legal car.

Yes - that's a '58 MGA. I bought it about 6 years ago, it's a bit of a rat, looks good at about 20 feet. I did a complete mechanical rebuild about 2 years ago - MGB 3 main block, big pistons, valves, race cam, header, 1.75 SU's; did the suspension and brakes as well. It's a great driver and because it's ratty, I have no issues driving it as a beater. No caparison to the 7, though.

Cheers,
LGB240

Here's a couple of pics with the top up ... I'm about 5'-9" and getting in isn't fun, getting out is a bad joke !!

The parts washer and door knob in the back ground gives you an idea of the height - the 7 isn't exactly towering over these items. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1326040376.jpg

Hi Mike,

I've spent a lot of time lurking on USA7's. I bought the car from Trough Dr. on that forum.

Absolutely up for a spring drive - if the weather stays this mild, it will probably be sooner.

Great 7 by the way, probably my most favorite colour combination (other than orange, that is!)
Cheers,
LGB240

Me 2. I know acquiring my E-Type is at least 1 lottery win away. One of these babies is definitely reachable. Looking forward to the ABFM at Van Dusen Gardens this spring as there usually a few on display. Very nice indeed - lgb240. Have fun. Looks as though it would be the nearest one could get to a 'motorcycle' experience with the safety of 4 wheels.

Cheers

I would be absolutely terrified driving one of those next to an 18 wheeler on the interstate. Stay to the backroads, okay guys? Damn...what a FUN toy car!

twobone 01-10-2012 09:53 AM

of course, I forgot about trough dr's seven. Never saw it in the flesh, but it looked like a nice car.

My car is all packed away till the salt is gone.

I hook up with these guys (Lotus Club Canada) for at least three events a year:
-Spring Run
-British Car Day in Oakville
-Fall Run

Anyways....keep in touch and I will be sure to connect for a drive in the spring

Cheers

I agree these are not highway cars, but are magical in the city and on back roads. Hearing protection is a must. Also if you are a bit heavy round the middle, are very tall or have big feet, you may not fit

6'3" 240....I won't even dream of actually getting in one. Even the new 370Z was too tiny for me. :(

Thanks for posting the club link. I've seen most of those cars at either Bronte or Ancaster over the years.

Cheers,
