Using an iphone4 as prepaid...

I have a friend who's replacing his newly purchased ATT iphone4 with a work-issued 4s. Instead of having it sit in a box and collect dust, he's offered it me for a ridiculously cheap price.

I'm tempted as it would be nice to have a phone that I can use for my regular trips to Europe, I just prefer to go prepaid.

The iphone is not offered through ATT's prepaid brand (GoPhone) but there appear to be simple modifications to the SIM card to make it work.

Has anyone here done that modification?

Thanks,
PF

Not done it but yes it's simple and proven.

Just pay attention to how you activate the GoPhone card. IIRC there is a specific sequence that needs to be followed for it to properly.

I can't help you with the question, but I am interested in the phone if you decide to pass.

That's what I'm trying to nail down. Like everything, there seems to be conflicting information on the process.
Thanks.

Wife has a 32GB black iphone 4 that she wants to sell. It's always been in a case and has no scratches. I think it also has 6 months of Applecare left.

What's a good price for both of us?

I sold my 16GB AT&T iPhone 4 on eBay a few weeks ago for $300. Excellent condition.

Neil,
I'm sure you can do better on eBay. I am interested in a low priced 4 for my daughter to use as an iPod touch to replace her 3GS. A well taken care of, scratch free phone is a waste for my daughter who puts her Ottercase to good use:).

Neil,
Did your wife ever sell her phone? My original plan did not work out.
Feel free to shoot me a pm if interested...
