Sirius XM renewal time...

Ouch... I have 5 radios and pay annually. It appears to be a 20% price increase this year. Does Howard Stern need more money?

Comments or suggestions..

Since I only listened to music, I told Sirius to take a hike after the free period I got with the Mustang expired.

An Ipod with over 1900 tunes, set to shuffle play, serves me well...with zero Deejay chatter.

I cancelled all my radios and just kept the streaming service. I can listen in my car through my iphone and at home on the computer. To me it doesn't make sense to pay a subscription fee for each individual radio.

I'm not sure if Howard gets it. I love the sat radio and definitely will not cancel.

I didn't renew my Sirius subscription because of all the commercials. They advertise other channels on the channel I'm listening to and that really irritated me. The Grateful Dead, Jam Band, etc... channels played the same 30 songs over and over again and it got monotonous...

3 radios, all gone, cancelled subcription. Now I use Slacker.

I don't think my wife renewed ours. I never listened to it anyway.

My XM was up for renewal in last Sept. about 4 months before I got a phone call from their rep demanding my credit card number to renew. I told him to go pound sand. In Jan my credit card was replaced so they couldn't automatically bill me. A month later another rep calls (this time she was nice) and tells me it's up for renewal. I tell her no thanks. She then wants to transfer me to their cancelation department. I tell her no thanks, don't have time to waste talking to another person to say no again. She says but it's our pollicy. I tell her it's not mine. I Say goodbye and hang up. It's now 4 months after it was suppost to expire and I still have all chanels.

My CS came with XM, but I let it expire - poor reception in our area.

I do music only, single car radio. I love it and would not get rid of it unless they seriously jacked up the rates. Too much diversity of music that I can't replicate easily on my iPod.

I guess a lot depends on how much time you spend listening. Meaning, with about 5K miles per year, I'm not in the car enough to make the tab worth it. If I were a salesman or a trucker, racking up lots of miles, I'd say satellite radio was worth the price.

Same with me. I'd be lost without it. I cant stomach regular radio anymore.

Portable XM/Sirius

Love my portable Sirius receiver - cradled in the car, truck, garage and office with one subscription.

There are way around it if you have a smart-phone. I have the app on my droid and now have eliminated several of my modestly used radios. I still have it in 3 of my cars, but I could just of easily just stream it off my phone and run it through a jack. I do this with Pandora occasionally when I get tired of XM. Pandora can seem like the best thing in the world at times and others, I completely exhaust the thumbs down and forwarding. Like they want me to get off. And I don't trust any of the SiriusXM billing. You generally find out when you want to cancel that they just renewed your contract for a minimum of a year last month. Give my a ring sometime Eddie!

There are not enough radio stations where I live to keep me current or remind me of artists and songs I enjoy(ed) across a very broad spectrum of music.

I listened to Real Jazz part of the way from DC today and was reminded of Sonny Criss, Wes Montgomery and Thelonious. You can buy a thrill.

Nor can I. I put about 15 to 20k under the wheels every year and can't imagine not having it.

Where did you get your new pups, btw...I'm looking for either a Heeler or a Lab.

Be careful here. They may still bill you. I found they were damned aggresive in trying to keep me as a customer. I actually sent them a registered cancellation letter in order to cover my butt...

Got rid of XM radio years ago -- just after they merged with Sirius.

Since then, Pandora and iTunes radio has been more than adequate to fill my musical needs.

In my opinion:
Pandora > XM

I'll do some homework...does she come with a box?

I switched from XM to Slacker a couple years back. Cheaper, no commercials or DJ's, and the sound quality is much better.

angelny911 01-11-2012 03:37 PM
