REMINDER...... all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sales calls.

This DNC list thing was tried recently in Canada. From all accounts, it was a failure. The only way for people to know to not call is to have access to the list. When some get that list it just gives them a bunch of valid numbers. Sure, there may be fines, but regardless of any supposed penalties, they can't do much about the people working out of India or Indonesia...

And personally, I got far more telemarketers than before the list. Thankfully I didn't submit my cel phone number. I guess that's what call display is for.

Glad for that and I think this hoax has made the rounds before. If this ever becomes real, it won't be calls you will be getting, it will be texts. Millions of them. And this has happened already and happened to me with regards to my bank.

Phishing scam from 2010

I'm glad for you guys that this isn't true. Unfortunately, in their infinite wisdom, the Canadian government DID have a do not call registry. Everyone was going around raving about this wonderful idea to stop the calls during dinner from telemarketers. Then they got MORE calls. It wasn't pretty. I was kind of surprised when I saw this thread as I couldn't see it working any better down there than here.

All of our cell phones are registered on the do not disturb registry, and I have only gotten 3 or so calls in the last couple of years, and oh yes they got reported
