Cancer

This seems to plaque more and more people. The numbers of post here regarding loved ones or themselves. I personally have had 3 close Friends pass from one form of cancer in the last 3 months. Does the cancer rate seem like its increasing? Or has it always been this rampant?

I think with people living longer cancer becomes more of a statistic. Dozens of years ago people died of pneumonia and TB and a lot of other things we have better control over these days.

I don't think cancer has become more common, diagnosis has improved dramatically because of better technology.

^^^ this

For men, prostate and/or bladder cancer are the typical booby prize for living a long time.

Exactly.

I'm reading "The Emperor of All Maladies" now. A fascinating insight but it is sad, scary and heavy reading. I start it, put it down, read something else and go back to it.

We are still basically guessing when it comes to treating cancer- chemotherapy has been nothing but a guessing game and it's incredibly interesting to see how the first treatments were developed and applied. Gene therapy will pave the way I think but it's not going to happen soon. My next door neighbor is a children's oncologist- I don't know how he does it.

The nurses at Stanford tell my wife that the number of rare cancers is skyrocketing.

all the above factors are operating

I hate to predict but it is likely that we have not yet seen the maximum for cancer rates because the people who were exposed to high levels of carcinogenic chemicals as kids are just now in the their 60's.

Luckily, many of those chemicals are being removed from the environment because of our environmental laws, and we are right on the cusp of a major revolution in oncology -- genetics.

I would strongly suggest you find a copy of "The Secret History of the War on Cancer" and do some reading. Some mis-information, more good information. Very telling and chilling tale!

I think with the increased amount of time we are living (which I believe is now decreasing due to diet) and the improvements in diagnosis we are finally understanding why people are dying rather than placing the blame on age.

Lost my father to cancer in '86. For all outside appearances, he was a vibrant 66 one day and fighting Legionaire's and leukemia the next.

Cancer is the number 2 leading cause of death. Pretty sure it has been that way for awhile.

My father is a lung cancer survivor. Its been 11 years or is it 12 years cancer free. I am starting to see younger people with the cancer of one form or another at a much younger age. I am talking about late 40's early 50's.

Does anyone know of any credible alternative treatments that have helped people that they know? My Mom has cancer and wants to try some alternatives to the normal Chemo routine.

I have had a few family members die from cancer, as well as too many friends. I do not give 1 cent to cancer research. The medical profession is getting rich off of people's diseases. The "non profit" hospitals are fronts for doctors as investors. It is all BS and they will die too in spite of their greed.
The insurance companies are not interested in resolving the cancer issue any more than people who build prisons are interested in solving the crime problem.
You as a populous have been trained to behave as lemmings. And you are performing as expected.

Cancer causing agents are at an all-time high, and our government isn't helping any: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRoyl...ature=youtu.be

The EPA's lack of reporting on generated hot particles from Fukushima, and the EPA's newly created list of "safe" levels of these contaminants is a crime of omission. Our water has 200-300 times the previous safe levels, and the level in our dairy products is off the charts.

Alternate treatment:

The full story on Dr. Burzynski and how the government has done everything in their power to shut down his practice can still be found on the internet (I don't have that link, but here's a link to his clinic): What are Antineoplastons? | Cancer Specialist, Cancer Drug Clinical Trials | Houston, Texas

We lost our son 8 years ago, because we bought into the mainstream chemo BS. We learned after-the-fact that the survival rate for treating his cancer with chemo was 1.5%. He might still be here today if we had gone just about any other route. Read everything you can find, and you'll find the correct alternate treatment for your Mom's cancer type.

Doc told me cancer is a disease of old age.
I wish cell mutation would give us super powers and not cancer. My family would be a huge x-men team!

well, old age DOES give you a much better trained immune system

however, cancer rates of youth are non-zero and appear to be rising

Sure does seem like many people get it. Cancer is a pretty broad term and in years ago I bet folks died of it but it wasn't relized.
Cancer is a ubiquitous term which comes about through:
• Genetic Predisposition
• Environmental Exposure
• Errors in DNA Repair
• Accumulated Genetic Errors in Somatic Cells
• Ineffective Immuno-surveilance

Pretty wide open as far as reasons...
