Laptop battery issue

Holds a charge, AC adapter is working, but won't charge.

Meter shows 40% available (plugged in, not charging).....searches turn up non specific issues with Motherboard. Battery is not one of the recalled models.

Dell Studio model. Dell won't even talk to me....

Any suggestions? Was working fine. Found it on the carpeted floor after a night out. Fell about 2 feet. Probably due to a rambunctious puppy.

Buy a replacement battery from ebay and see if it holds charge. The knockoffs are cheap enough in case the battery is not the problem.

Not the battery, I put it in a friends and it takes a charge....

Check the BIOS and see if there is a battery conditioning option, if not drain it dead and recharge it.

Probably broke the solder connections from the plug receptacle to the MB.

Karma. You shouldn't have pee'd on Sammy's lawn...

Joe Bob 01-17-2012 12:45 PM

Couldn't have been too bad a karma.....it's plugged in and charged 100%. BESIDES, his lawn needed the minerals....
