Hello one and all
Was it you I used to know
Can't you hear me call
On this old ham radio
All I got to say
I'm alive and feeling fine
If you come my way
You can share my poison wine

On Feb. 21, 1968, Blood, Sweat & Tears, one of the first bands to make the brass section part of the band, released their debut LP "Child Is Father to the Man."

BS&T was an evolving idea from Al Kooper. Al went to a concert for jazz trumpeter Maynard Ferguson in 1960. Ferguson's performance served as the catalyst to start a rock band with a horn section. Kooper was in The Blues Project, but left after the band leader rejected his idea of bringing in a horn section. It took Al some time between both coasts, but he finally got the guys to put a band together.

This album was recorded in two weeks in December 1967. After a brief promotional tour, Kooper ws fired from the band, which led to Child is Father to the Man being the only album Kooper ever appeared on. Despite being asked to leave Blood, Sweat & Tears, Kooper felt everything worked out well for him and the band.

Baz, a very favorite album in the day. Along with CTA, PG&E, Lighthouse, Cold Blood, Tower of Power and the other bands of the day that embraced horns. Al Kooper is one of the visionaries of the day. Super Session is one of his best with Mike Bloomfield.

Ah Baz, you are taking me back. Johnathan Edwards was local to Athens, O where I went to school. I had the chance to date Emma after he wrote this song for her.

And then there was, umm, forgot her name, but not the song

The Monkees were never taken seriously but sold a ton of albums and did have same decent music. Here is a song that could be recorded today to comment on American Surburbia

Quote:
The local rock group down the street
Is trying hard to learn their song
Seranade the weekend squire, who just came out to mow his lawn

Another Pleasant Valley Sunday
Charcoal burning everywhere
Rows of houses that are all the same
And no one seems to care

See Mrs. Gray she's proud today because her roses are in bloom
Mr. Green he's so serene, He's got a t.v. in every room

Another Pleasant Valley Sunday
Here in status symbol land
Mothers complain about how hard life is
And the kids just don't understand

Creature comfort goals
They only numb my soul and make it hard for me to see
My thoughts all seem to stray, to places far away
I need a change of scenery

Ta Ta Ta...

Another Pleasant Valley Sunday
Charcoal burning everywhere
Another Pleasant Valley Sunday
Here in status symbol land

Another Pleasant Valley Sunday...
They even did a respectable job with Steppin Stone (Originally done by Paul Revere & the Raiders)
