Anyone work for BMW or know someone who does?
I need a recall clearance letter for a Mini Cooper. I don't mind paying for it if necessary.
Thanks.

It's a letter stating there are no open recalls on a vehicle. It must indicate the VIN, and either be on letterhead with company logo, or service computer printout with the tech's business card (bearing logo) photocopied onto it.
It's required by the registrar of imported vehicles for any car less than 15 yeas old. |

If this for importation into Canada from the USA:
Run a CarFax on it, that will state that if there are any open recalls. I know of at least two Porsches taken into Canada with that as documentation within the last two years. You will have to change the lights to Canadian "always on" specification.

RIV won't take Carfax. Trust me, I've imported probably 10-15 cars. If you friend was able to get RIV to accept a Carfax, then my hat's off to him, and I'd love to know his secret!
