local cuisine in Tempe
I know there's a few Phoenix area pelicans out there. I flew in this AM and spent the day with my fresh from NAMM, Fender reps. They took us to RA sushi for lunch, and I'm in the mood for for some simple SW/mexi for dinner close to the home-tel.Tempe area, S Ash& W. University, actually. Closer the better.
BTW I love this place in winter, only wish I could have come for the auctions. TIA Gator |
Well... there's Chipotle on Mill between University and Apache
And there's a Taco Bell at Rural and Apache. And as always there's Hooters on mill. |
Mmmm, Chipotle! I love that place. But it's more fast food than restaurant.
|
Try Rositas on University at about Priest (about a mile west of Mill) decent Mexican. Macyo's Mexican Cantina is on Ash about 2 blocks North of University. Both decent SW/Mexican, not the best in town but close to you.

thanks brew. while chipolte's fine in a pinch, I'm looking for more local flavor. appreciate it though. check back in a few.
|
Yes, Rosita's is right there and pretty good. If you like it very hot, try Los Dos Molinos.
What do you do with Fender? |
two for rositas,alright.
Rick, I'm a guitar tech in for a show tomorrow at the Marquis. the band is endorsed by, and uses, fender gear. today we mostly talked about the new bassman series.Evidently, it was voted amp of the year@NAMM. I'm sure we will be trying it out ourselves pretty soon. |
Well, I love my Hot Rod DeVille. I have recently gone to a Marshall head and am still trying to get that Fender sound out of the clean channel.
|
Dood, you hang with Anthrax and Testament? That's bad ass....oh, wait, that show is Tuesday.
O.A.R.? |
Filiberto's #13 / chicken. The preferred drive thru meal of RANDY P.
You can also do Middle Eastern food, you have Haji Baba's (meh) or Cafe Istanbul if you are into that sort of stuff. The rest is crappy chains. rjp |
Don, your second guess is correct.
Gator has hooked me up a few times, getting me into general admission shows early. He's a good guy. Gator, I'll see you in 2 weeks in Chicago |
Also if you are into Dim Sum, C-Fu is in that neck of the woods and excellent chow!
You will not go hungry around here... |
OMG! I love O.A.R.
Don't forget Z Teja's. Mill and 6th St. Not a far walk for you at all, Gator. A chain but good southwestern food and good happy hour. Enjoy AZ. The weather has been great! |
Yes, OAR. WHATS UP GARRETT. Wallked toward rositas, but only made it to a little joint called el pollo suprema. just what I wanted. simple charbroiled chicken, beans and tortillas.
tweezer, if you were to show up here, before say 8:15 ish, make your way out back by the trucks and bus and ask for gator i'm sure I could escort you in. too late for guest list but I could escort you in. I know it's late, busy day. |

Uggggg!!!!! I missed an opportunity to go see O.A.R. and meet another Pelican???? :( Oh well. Thanks for the offer, Gator. I could have totally made it too... For once I was in town and wasn't doing anything except hanging out with a friend. Next time and thanks for the thought, Gator. Hugs! |
Hey, Mrs. Lee and I will be going to see Ozzy and Rush tribute bands in Tempe on 02/18 if you want to hang then. We're trying to see Eric Johnson in Scottsdale this Sunday if any tix become avail.
