Chuck Rainey health fund

If you've listened to pop/rock music over the past 40 years, you no doubt have heard Chuck Rainey playing bass. Check this discography: Chuck Rainey

Chuck had a stroke in Nov. He's recovering at home now but still can't play, and for a musician, no work means no money. Let's avoid PARFing this up with comments about health care, but suffice it to say that recovering from a stroke isn't cheap. If his playing has moved you in the past and are so inclined, there is a way to donate directly to his family to help with costs.

ChipIn: Chuck Rainey Well Health Fund

On top of being one of the most recorded bassists in history, he is one of the sweetest guys in the world.

Chuck Rainy played on a lot of Steely Dan's tunes. He is a giant in the Bass world.
Bless him.
Great groove bassist. His resume is long and good.
I am sure he is getting some decent royalties with his past contributions to the many fantistic bands he has lent his hand to.

Nope. Sidemen usually got paid for the studio date and that was it. Unless they got a co-writing credit there are no royalties.

Too many people think that the musicians are "set for life" because they've played on a lot of popular songs, but's it not the case. I used to think these guys were all "rich", then I met a few at the NAMM shows and I learned the truth. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Please tell Chuck he's in my prayers.

Looks as if someone was improving their "W.A.V." in that pic. I've had a few students attend and enjoy.

Is the Yin/Yang plate hanging on the wall in the background ironic, or foretelling?

That is a sad story. I wish him all the best.
Suffice to say, there are conditions beyond my control.

Yup, last March. It was freakin' cold in TN. This year it is in May - it should be warmer but that means the ticks will be out

Chuck looks proud to have his picture taken with a REALLY renowned bass player.

Actually Chuck is just that kinda guy. The first night I was there I stood at the back of the room and talked with him for like half an hour about his sessions with Steely Dan. Not an ounce of attitude in the guy.
