What is it about 928 owners having a screw loose?

Baz 01-30-2012 06:27 PM

What's a 928?

Arizona_928 01-30-2012 06:29 PM

i know. the 944 crowd is much more relaxed and chill. I think they think they have it better then us because they have a 9ft timing belt, and there cars where in risky business.

should have kept my n/a, and sold the 928. :(

Arizona_928 01-30-2012 06:48 PM

from parting the S4 I had. I don't care bout making money, because I already broke even on the car, he said It was certain amount I took his word on it. Should've checked didn't, said I did. I checked today wasn't what he said it was. Issued refund. told him I would rather throw it in the trash then sell it to him. Little rash?

so worked up, stupid games.

Do you mean 928 versus a ridem mower? That's easy - a ridem mower.

This is the way a conversation could go. Husband -I am buying a Porsche 928.
Wife - if you do then you are sleeping in the doghouse.

The 944 board has had no drama for a while now. Maybe I'll wander over there and start something.

Ajajajajajaja!!!

I'm a longtime 911 guy. Have two right now and will always have at least one. That being said, I just got my first 928 in September. To the haters - I get it - but don't knock it till you've tried it. The 928 is a staggering amount of car for the money.

My latest Porsche buying criteria were:
-300+ reliable HP
-modern comforts - cruise, ac, stereo, power windows at a minimum.

I looked at 996s I liked that were near 30k and built like a cheap Japanese car. Then I looked at 928s for 1/4 to 1/2 the price and they are built like bank vaults.

Picked up an 86 and am loving it. Easily and cheaply modded it to near 350 HP. It has climate control, ABS, and an 8 speaker stereo.

Sometimes I take corners and think "this thing just doesn't handle like my 911s" until I realize I'm going faster through said corner than I do in my 911s.

And despite the hype, I am finding the car to be a pleasure to work on with parts priced similarly to 911 parts.

In closing, I love my V8 Porsche Power

Sorry for the hijack!

which mods have you done?
first year ABS. ;)

Have to upgrade your early to some s4 calipers and rotors. You'll enjoy the car a heck of a lot more. SmileWavy

Some of us still recall the epic battles between Z-man and Alina.

Sad thing is, Alina just asked a common newbie question (can I turbo my NA?), and got flamed pretty mercilessly for it. Every person who has bought a 944 NA has asked that question at some point. Yes, I realize people are sick of answering that question, but they need to realize that the person asking has never heard the answer before.

It was only after Alina got attacked that he/she became unhinged. Yeah, it was bound to happen eventually. He/she would start a thread under a new user name about once a day that went something like this: "My grandma just left me $20,000, what should I do to my NA with the money?" Then it slowly became straight-up Z-man baiting. By the end, he/she had something like 5 usernames going...

My first Porsche was an '83 928. I bought it in the days before all these helpful internet sites. I knew nothing of belt changes or anything else about them. Never had a problem and drove it like it was "stolen". Only sold it because of a move and too many toys. You are right, it is an amazing car for the money.
