Wow. I don't know why I dismissed it so completely when I was a kid, but there is some great music and great singers from those days. Some really corny stuff, but some amazing music too.
My brother worked with my mother back in December to pick out some music for my father's funeral. They came up with a couple of hours of the music my parents listened to when they were in their teens and early 20's. A lot of Jo Stafford and Frank Sinatra. "I'll be seeing You" referenced above and this one brought tears to her eyes Jo Stafford - "You Belong To Me" - YouTube My mother's funeral was yesterday and we played the same CD he made for my dad. Lots of tears in lots of eyes. God I miss them. ...

I feel the same way. It wasn't new and cool so we dissed it. It was good stuff....we just didn't know it then. Pandora.com has a 40's music station. Don't tell Grace Slick, but Jo Stafford has just put her to number 2 position. ![]() |

Patrick - Sorry to hear the news. No words help, but wish you the best.
Funny thing about that generation of music. It was classic; we don't always start out liking it but somehow manage to grow into it. Here's my favorite from WWII - think your mother would have liked it: Vera Lynn We ll Meet Again mp3 - Free Download from http://nsm.uh.edu - FilesTube.com Jim
