Subaru small engines any good ?

I was at Home Depot today and strolled by their generators. I noticed a Homelite generator with a a tag that said it was powered by a industrial grade Subaru engine. I know Honda and Yamaha are the benchmark for small generators but how does the Subaru compare ? This particuliar generator had a rating of 2200w continuous with 2800w surge. I'm looking for one for my truck camper to run AC and lights/microwave. So is this one any good ? Price was WAY cheaper than the competition.

Subaru makes great small engines. If you plan to use it for camping where other people are around, look at something else. For remote boondocking they're fine if you can handle the noise. If you are around other people, and security won't tell you to shut it down, you'll wake up in the morning with a cut pull cord, or sugar in the gas tank. Cheap=NOISY! If you have a normal 13k or 15k btu AC unit, 2200W will likely not run the AC. It will run with a lot less wattage, but starting the compressor will kill it. The microwave is also iffy.

Fugi Heavy Industries (Subaru's parent company) makes them, they also make all the engines for Polaris which have excellent engines. They have been in the game a long time.

Not putting miles on your car is like not having sex with your girlfriend, so she'll be more desirable to her next boyfriend.
