Register in CA at a buddy's house. Reissue new title in Bammy once you get a new title in your name issued.
You have the Motorhome, so you aren't totally hammered. |
Lighten up Denis. I read it on my phone and thought it said La Mesa RV. Not LaMesa. RV...

Ok. I just did not understand how so many people got that major detail wrong. They must start reading in the middle of the thread. :)

Haha, sorry guys, have been airborne for the last 2 days.
Yes, the town in San Diego, La Mesa. Lemon Grove. If it had been from a dealer, no problem, they 'absorb' the middlemen. I also came to the conclusion that I probably come back to California, and try some sort of reg/title there, or let the attorney do his thing. I realize you cant get blood out of a seller, or a fixed title out of a middleman. I have a planning conference at Pt. Mugu in March, and will try to do something in person then. I am tempted to go to the actual titled seller on the pink in Riverside and explain the deal, and pay to have them order a duplicate pink (six weeks). If they would do that, all I'd have to worry about would be the non-op status (believed to be good because the State of California issued a 'trip permit' after verifying that status) to take it to Alabama. Then I show up in 'Bama with a signed off title to me. Or let the attorney paper the whole deal. I suspect I'd get nowhere that way. I used to have a Sheriff friend in Texas that would fix all this for the price of a steak and a brew. He and I have done a number of missions overseas, and Bureaucratic stuff like this infuriated him. He used to joke we could get a company finding on a towel-head quicker than we could get a title from the state of California. He passed away 2 months ago from the after-effects leftover from a 'weed/poppy' eradication op in Colombia in the 80's. So many of us oldtimers are dropping, and those stories will never be heard except in some dive somewhere. Thanks for the suggestions, if I can't make any logical headway, Ill be sending a PM. |
I promise you that if you contact the CA DMV all will be well and expedited. Maybe I should have mentioned that I tried to flip a car not putting my name on the paper trail and got caught. I played it straight with the DMV investigator and got off paying the use tax.
They are pretty good at this. |
