Vintage Guitar Porn
While I know little to nothing about guitars, I am going through a 'list' for work that includes guitar stores. So far, I have only done the NE.

I stand corrected. Check the 2nd link for a mess of 30s & 40s Gibsons. I imagine those will work.

pre '74 3-bolt neck strats can still be pretty awesome. They are not really considered 'vintage', but they can still be great guitars. These have the grey bottom pickups that were used in the same guitars that Hendrix and Blackmore were using live. Big, punchy, round sounding strats that usually sound pretty good through big bottle amps, IMO.

Bernunzio's is a great shop. I'm drooling over the '61 ES-345. Last edited by Shuie; 12-15-2010 at 03:23 PM.. |

I bet that weights about 30lbs. The Dan Armstrongs weren't particularly light.

okay, I'll play. I'm not good at collecting things, but here are the ones I still have.
'53 Gibson Les Paul Conversion '56 Fender Esquire basketcase telecaster '59 Gretsch '53 Fender Champion Lapsteel ![]() '67 Gibson ES-345 and my '59 Singlecut TV Model. I actually got this from a fellow Pelicaneer. I've had the extra routes repaired since this photo was taken. Absolutely fantastic guitar. Last edited by Shuie; 12-15-2010 at 04:35 PM.. |

I have one of these gathering dust..
![]() but wait.. not a full size its a 3/4 ES-125 3/4 Back when I was a young dumas, I replaced the single pick-up with a pair of DiMarzio PAFs wired in every combo imaginable.. I single handedly reduced the value of a not to valuable guitar to kindling status ![]()

![]() My 1890-ish Arion Parlor/Ladies Guitar. Arion became part of Washburn. Picked this guitar up in Shrewsbury, Ma at the now defunct MacDuff's music store (next to where Spag's used to be) for about $100 back in 1991 or so. Plays fine, has real ivory tuning pegs. I even have the original case for it! It's olive drab and you push the guitar into it from the bottom as opposed to a coffin-like approach. I rarely even look at it. I keep it locked away from dust, sun and children! EDIT: Dang, that focus sucks. Sorry.

![]() ![]() Not sure if this counts as vintage... my 1996 Manuel Contreras II Flamenco concert guitar. This thing is freaking awesome. Sounds unbelievable. Scored it offa craigslist in NC a couple of years ago. I have the original papers from the PO who bought it in Madrid, Spain in 1996. I keep it in the case when not playing. I wash my hands before I even touch it, and wipe her down after I play her. I really should play more than I have been for the last year but my new job and new Porsche hobby are taking time from her. Plus I busted my index finger nail yesterday working on my car, so no guitar for a week or 2. This guitar is great for classical music, too. I play Bach, Dowland, Rodrigo, Villa-Lobos, Albeniz, Tarrega on her -- sounds like a CD you would buy in the store. When I open the case and play her, she fills the room with the aroma of cedar...
