Our Close Friends Son's Life Cut Short...:-(

The first time I met Denton was 7 years ago. We were new to our neighborhood and we had just moved in. He was in his driveway with his Mom and Dad. He can up, stuck out his hand and introduced himself. We were instantly impressed by his manners and confidence. He always called me sir and my Wife ma'im.

They live two homes down. He was studying Industrial Engineering and planned to transfer nest year to A&M.

Summers are gonna seem empty without seeing him...

I feel bad I ratted him out to his Mom and Dad when I saw a couple young girls leaving his home early one Saturday morning when his folks were out of town...

Wow, really unfortunate. Much more unfortunate since the end result was probably due to something as minor as bulking up. I'm reminded about Sniper telling us many times that he refused to wear a seat belt. I really feel for his parents.

I clicked onto this thread, and clicked off.

I have 4 sons that I've raised and I just couldn't imagine seeing one go.

One my son's friend hit another kid with his car. luckly the kid survived. I've tried to impress my sons right from wrong and that a car is a deadly tool if not used right.

Shame to hear stories like this. I've lost a few around my age for preventable reasons like this....

Doesn't make it any easier on those of us left behind.

My son has 3 friends who are all in the cemetery right around the corner from me. All lost in high school because of stupid, preventable reasons. Not a good thing to have to deal with.

I'm so sorry Mike.

Having lost my older brother when he was 17 I know that this event will change the family's lives dramatically.

There is nothing that can prepare a parent for this.

Stories like this should be shared with every HS class at the beginning of every day.

Do they show "Signal 30" anymore in driver training class?

Sorry for the loss of your friend.....somehow this tragedy will save other lives......

Just heard on the news that teenage highway deaths took an 11% jump last year, first time it increased in several.

Sad to hear and my condolences to the families involved.

So sorry for you and the families. I was a Paramedic when I was in the USN and I can't tell you how many deaths could have been prevented if people had just worn seatbelts. Very sad...

These stories hurt to the core...

My wife and I just returned home this evening from a weekend visit with our kids. Their school is about 3 hours out so visits are not that frequent with everyone so busy... I don't think I could deal with a loss of one of my kids.

Lubemaster77... God bless you and the family for having to live with this loss.

There has a been a constant stream of people at their home all day and night. I swung early this AM with some garbage bags, paper towels and cleaner. I figuered every one was bringing food. They were very thankful. I also gave them my garage code and cleaned out my fridge for themto store left over food in. Seems like when someone dies people like to bring food. I guess people want to do something to help relieve the pain? Maybe to provide some sort of control into the situation? We feel so helpless...and sad.
