Great news if you're on the organ donation wait list....

Are you or someone you love waiting for a new heart? Lung? Kidney? Skin graft? Great news!!......

The new 2012 Kawasaki ZX14 does 9.05 seconds @ 159 mph in the quarter mile. Box stock, right off the showfloor. Anyone with $14K can buy one. You don't even need a helmet in some states, but it would better protect eyeball components if that's what you're waiting for.

That is insanely quick! Anyone care to translate the horsepower-to-weight ratio to a 3500 lb car?

URY914 02-22-2012 07:43 AM

Yep, a lot of parts form 20 year old males will be hitting the market.

HHI944 02-22-2012 07:48 AM

Dibs on a good liver!

vash 02-22-2012 07:51 AM

that is a sick bike! love it.

i remember a guy, jay gleason. i think that is his name. he was the pilot that was hired by all the bike companies to do the 1/4 mile run for best time. that man had clutch/throttle managment down to a science. i bet this new bike would great under that man.

i was hit by a car on my ninja. i'm not too fond of that organ donor joke. someone needs to write a new one :)

The ZX-14 has 189 horsepower and weighs 584 pounds, so 3.09 pounds per horsepower

A 3500 pound car would have to have 1133 horsepower to equal it

A friend of mine builds Twin Turbo Lamborghini Gallardos that could match that ratio. But due to gearing and aerodynamics, they can't match that 1/4 mile performance.

kaisen 02-22-2012 08:07 AM

Perspective:

An Ariel Atom 3, with 300 supercharged horsepower, still pushes ~4.3 pounds for every horsepower

motion 02-22-2012 08:07 AM

Ah well, that thing is a slug, then. The new Ducati 1199 Panigale weighs 361 lbs and has 195 HP. More importantly, its a V-Twin, so the torque is instant and outrageous.

Peewee Gleason! He was launching Yamaha V-Max's into the high 9s back in the mid eighties.

Yep. Insane. And I'd LOVE to watch you track one (really)

But the difference is access to that insane power. What does a 1199P cost?? :D:D:eek:

Any 16 year old with enough paper route money to buy a new Toyota Yaris could afford a new Hayabusa or ZX-14....

I do remember reading (so I do not know for sure) that insurance companies tracked the life expectancies of a 16 year old buying the Kawasaki Ninja in hours.

9 second quarter. Damn. I remember watching drag bikes in the 70's turning high 8's and it did not seem real because they were so small and went that fast. It was as if a force was pushing them other then the engine.

You should edit your post to include an embed of the video.

Then let's see what ads pop up when viewed.

Not to upset you too much vash, but a buddy of mine's daughter works in Emergency said she & her co-workers indulged in a little black humour & called those 'crotch-rockets'...Donorcycles. Insanely fast machines, that all too many times, are in the hands of novices with more 'balls than brains'

Cheers

Surprised that we don't have laws against those things (yet) ...well other than the laws of physics.
