Good to hear, Hugh.

Our household is running 2 out of 3 (at this point) in successful spouses for our spawn. ;)

That is great, Hugh...you get moments in life that make it right.

Sorry I am going to miss you tomorrow...I nearly flew out just to say howdy

On a related note, my Son's girlfriend's father called and asked if Jack could trailer his car to be repaired because, "Jack knows this stuff".

So he did this morning.

$3,700 wedding dress

Wifey is in NYC with daughter they went to Kleinfelders the store that is featured by a cable show called "Yes to the Dress" $3,700 for the dress, haven't seen the dress yet, but add in veil, shoes, whatever. Daughter and wife are happy, so I don't care. They are planning a wedding somewhere in the British West Indies next April. She's worth every penny of it.

rusnak 04-03-2012 06:14 PM

Gentlemen, very cool. You've done well.

mossguy 04-03-2012 06:17 PM

Hugh - I would say you got off pretty easy!

kach22i 04-04-2012 05:11 AM

Accounting?

Seems like the numbers add up.

Congrats.

Believe it or not, she is not a little girl anymore :)

She moved to Manhattan with him about six weeks ago without a commitment, I advised against moving into his condo (yes a condo in mid-town Manhattan, not an apartment). I told him I was delighted. I can't believe my little girl is going to get married. SmileWavy

That is just the friggin dress! They want a Caribbean wedding, next April. The good side, is that the Wifey is only leaning towards paying air fare and hotel for four family members and one very close couple who are my daughter's Godparents.

Anyone else who wants to attend will have to pay their own freight. At least that's the plan at the moment, I'm sure it will grow to "well what about these other friends"

Groesbeck Hurricane 04-04-2012 02:21 PM

Hugh,

Congrats to your daughter! Best wishes for her and your now expanding family!

zarl911 04-04-2012 02:36 PM

zarl911 04-04-2012 02:36 PM

and congrats to you and your daughter

Hugh R 04-04-2012 02:37 PM

Definitely in person is better, that is what I did with my wife's Dad, however he lives in NYC. I live in Los Angeles.

genrex 04-04-2012 04:02 PM

You know what they say... marry a girl, marry her family.

I assume there is a nice McDonald's in the British West Indies.

Wedding and reception at McDonald's. What kind of wine goes with Filet o' Fish?

porsche4life 04-04-2012 04:05 PM

sorry..nothing says, "Congratulations and Good Luck" to the happy couple like airing out your own negative attitude. maybe that is why your marriage worked out so well?

Hugh, ignore that post please..

My daughter lives with her boyfriend. I told my daughter to tell her boyfriend if they are contemplating marriage not to ask for my permission. :) I try to keep things simple.

Rufblackbird 04-05-2012 01:17 PM

congrats Hugh!

sounds like the destination wedding is well deserved :)

Update:

Wedding is next April in St. Lucia BVI.

We're having an engagement party at the house on Saturday, September 15, 2012. The wifey has hired a "planner" who seems OK. the daughter of a neighbor who has 40 acres next to mine. He'll let us use our valets to park cars. Caterers, music, lots of outdoor lighting, expecting about 100 people.

Wifey informed me that one of our neighbors is the bass guitarist for a band called "Foreigner" and she is actually thinking of asking if his "band" would be interested in a Saturday night gig, I don't think so. I mean I'm sure she'd be willing to toss them a few hundred for the night, yeah right.

I'm putting in 20 curtain rods for some white frilly curtains on the patio cover posts, The wifey doesn't like the spider webs on the underside of the patio cover, so I have to pressure wash them off. She wanted me to rebuild the cabinets on the outdoor bar for the bartender, I told her I'd wash them off and rehang the cabinet doors that are falling off. She wants me to wash all the windows inside and out; its a night time event for God's sake.

Open bar, no you aren't invited. I know how you'se boys do with an open bar.

GWN7 09-03-2012 07:10 PM

Tell the wife to go knock on the band guys door and see if he's up to it. :)

GWN7 09-03-2012 07:12 PM

Just looked..... they are playing in NY that night :)

9dreizig 09-03-2012 07:26 PM

where do we apply for the valet job??

Tobra 09-03-2012 10:20 PM

Can't make it, volunteer clinic that day.

Hire someone to come in and clean the place up, windows and what not.

Nostril Cheese 09-03-2012 10:50 PM

They so need to play this at the party.

You never know, bass guitarists are wacky and unpredictable. ;)

Joeaksa 09-04-2012 05:23 AM

Is there a need for "Dr. Phil" at the wedding? My weekend is available on the 15th! :)

Hugh R 09-15-2012 11:24 AM

So it begins. Last night. Party starts in 6-1/2 hours. Supposed to be 105 degrees here today. It should cool off nicely by 7 or 8 PM.
