How many home games will the Red Wings win before being beaten?
Currently at 23 consecutive wins at home and first place in the league. I'm thinking the Canucks will give them a run for their money but the Wings will get number 24 tonight.
In other news... Anyone want to take a stab at the trade deadline or playoff crystal ball? Any chance that the Caps will be still be on skates in mid April? I made my 2011-12 season predictions back in October and got almost all of them wrong (other than regular reports of Sid's condition which sadly are not very encouraging for the future and, no one loves Gary Bettman except for 1990C4S). So much for my visionary talent. Fortunately, I predicted that the Bruins would do well again this year and although they have faltered as of late, they still have a strong standing for playoff time ![]() That said, since my track record is so bad, why not totally kill it? -I am wondering if Alex O will either have the "C" ripped off his jersey or be traded. It sure does seem that the Caps need something ala Extreme Make-over Home Edition. -Bruins play the Red Wings for the Cup. Go Bruins.

None if they play the way they did on Monday night against the Hawks.
You can really tell they are mising Datsyuk in all aspects of their game. Most notably is their entrance into the zone on the Power Play. It was horrid. They are a good team, someone else will step up hopefully. Howard can only keep them in for so long. If the Wings play the Bruins we will have to make a bet. Bill |

The Caps are currently at 40% likelihood of making the playoffs. But they are only two points out of first in the Southeast. I will say again, no team with Ovechkin as their leader will win the cup.
The Wings 'home win record' is really no such thing. Previous record holders did not have the opportunity for 'over-time wins', and I believe the Wings have several 'ties' as part of their current 'record'. Ho hum. More Gary Bettman propaganda. The Rangers success is a much more interesting, and unlikely, story.

Good point. So, how many overtime wins are in those 23?

15.4 seconds remaining and the Canucks score a tying goal.
BTW, did some digging: 3 SO wins 1 OT win Although not all pure wins, still an accomplishment. Besides, we know that now that there is a chance to get both points in OT, the game changed and the teams don't go for "all or nothing" at the last few minutes of a tied game since they can play it safe and go for the second point in OT or SO. It is possible that the Wings could have won those other 4 games... Yeah, I know its a stretch but they still have an accomplishment to be proud of even if they didn't do it the old fashioned way. Shoot out: 0-1 Canucks win

The probability of winning all four of those 'tie' games is very very low. The only shocking fact is that the record isn't held by a Montreal Canadiens team from the 70's.
Teams did not always 'go for it' back then either. They often played it safe and preserved the point. No big risks in the last five minutes, if you get a break take it. Otherwise a tie was fine.

How about loser has to go outside, set a few cars on fire, and riot in the street. Oh, wait... Besides no one loves Gary B as much as 1990C4S. The B's just aren't firing on all cylinders these days but I still think they will pull out of the fog with a strong showing at the playoffs. Any predictions from Finn?

Joe, That riot stuff was crazy, they are now pressing charges and a bunch of people will do time for their part in all of that. I think 1990C4S is a Canuck and that makes "Lovin Gary Bettman" even stranger.
As far as predictions go I will stick with my Canucks to go all the way, mind you I've been saying that for 40 years now. It would be nice if the Wings and the Bruins got eliminated prior to the Canucks meeting them and although the Bruins are in a bit of a funk right now I have no doubt they will be ready when the playoffs start. Interesting thing I heard the other day and don't know if its true or not but in last years playoffs the Bruins had a total of 5000 miles of travel as opposed to the Canucks 17000. My question to you BB fans is "will Tim Thomas be a Bruin next year"? Finn

1990: Of course we know that is sarcasm at its finest.
Finn: I will accept your hoping the B's are knocked out before meeting the Canucks as a compliment. They do have a lot of grit and it was that no-quit attitude that got them the cup last year. Will Timmy be a Bruin next year? Gosh I hope so. I can't imagine them trading him since he is still the 1st string net minder. Did he rattle a few cages recently when he stood up Capt Zero? Sure but the fans love him and he sells tickets. As long as he keeps winning games all is forgiven.

Chara envy?
I didn't see it but I heard it on Bruins radio. The B's let Otawa get back into the game and it could have cost them.

Chara did not lose that fight, he slipped. Neil is a tough customer. Big Hit. Big fight. He got the Sens back in the game.
