my stepdad is the worst cancer patient. ever!
sometimes i want to scream at him. (i dont)
he doesnt complain to the doctor at all. he comes home and then spills the beans to my poor mom. stomach pain, nausea, constipation, dehydration..all the greatest hits. the doc asks and he replies, "i am feeling fine". the doctor is uninformed. when we ask about, "what did the doctor say?" my stepdad says he doesnt tell him. i tried to get the doc to prescribe THC pills, and my stepdad says they are illegal there. i just called the pharmacist and he said they are readily available. pure THC pills. line up the doritos and macdonald fries!! if i had cancer i would be stoned. i would also do a daily IV bag to stay hydrated. it is difficult being so far away. grr. thanks for letting me vent.

My Mom did the cancer dance and lost in 1990.
She was stalwart and brave as I rubbed her feet and asked her if she needed anything. Your Stepdad is working through how he wants to be remembered. I suspect he is as tough as she was.

Know the Dr's name? Call him up and explain why your calling. Next appointment have your mom sit in. When step dad says life is wonderful, mom can fill the Dr. in with the truth.

I had my Dad sign some papework that allowed his Doctors to talk to me. Things worked out much better after that because I could note symptoms, etc., in a list so none of them were forgotten. During Doctor visits, he would forget what his symptoms were and then just come up with weird random stuff...
Like the time he told the home health care nurse that I wouldn't feed him. She asked why he didn't make himself some food and then he told her that I didn't have any food in the house. Not something he was doing with any type of intention, just combination of memory issue, medications he was on, etc. I was sure embarassed though when she asked to speak to me privately about it. Actually opened the cupboards and refrigerator to show her ![]() angela

I feel bad for you and the family. I can't be critical of the poor guy, I can't even begin to imagine how devastating this crap would be to you if you had to go through it. The sooner this disease joins smallpox and polio the better off we'll all be.

If he told them the symptoms, could the doctor help?
in Ca they have edibles you can easily buy that do the trick and are all natural. I think MT and CO do, too.
