Daytona 500 rain out?
Doesn't look good for today or tomorrow
In fact the weather for the week does not look good for a race that long. |

Pre-race show was good when Lenny Kravitz was playing, have to do something with my day now, cannot wait for the rain to stop.

That was a beautiful rendition of the Star Spangled Banner by Train lead singer. Nice feature on Danica. I think I'm a Nascar fan this season. Great driver talent and awesome tv package.

From what I understand....but I could be wrong....there is a special tire which helps you drive in the rain....I think they are called RAIN TIRES......

When the race does get underway it is going to be very interesting.
After the shootout ,practices and the duels it's obvious these cars are on the edge . Slightest tap in the left rear sends everyone spinning. I thought after Nascar saw that they would make a slight rule change . Now with a green track and a full field I just hope there are no serious injuries. Vegas ,last year ,Indy practice they knew the speeds and closeness was a bad recipe. Nascar has seen three events all with the same outcome. Thank god for the safer barriers |

The problem is......racing in rainy conditions...could lead to crashes!!!!
![]() ![]() But....I know that is something NASCAR and their fans abhor...... ![]()

I'm still mourning Dan Wheldon He was a racer's racer, RIP. Nascar is at the forefront of sports in terms of letting the fans get to know the drivers. They are the stars, not the cars.

More people would watch if the raced in the rain. No other motorsport does not race in the rain.

NASCAR does race their road course events in the rain...It just won't work on a banked oval...

They sleep overnight in the motorhomes? Danica mentioned she couldn't sleep due to work on the track overnight. I cant imagine Kimi Raikonnen or Alonzo sleeping at the track in a bazillion years.

I guess you guys in the know didn't see anything about tests of rains on a 3400# car that only goes left with ridiculous amounts of camber on the fronts.
Yes, NASCAR and it's Canadian arm have run rains on road courses. I'll let you brilliant minds figure out why that works. Sort of. |

This is an organizers nightmare
looks like they are gonna try to get this race going in a bit . wonder how many cars will cross the finish line if it finishes? |

What's the minimum distance necessary to consider the race "legal?" 250 miles? They don't really have to run 500 miles (from NASCAR's perspective), just enough to satisfy the minimum requirement. The possibility of a rain checker at any time after just 250 miles would actually increase the suspense.

You race the track you have and try to go just a little faster than the other guy without crashing out.
that is all it is I love racing in the rain (other than drying out all my gear) the thin line between scoring points, winning and crashing out get much tighter.
