I would like to think I would continue to live my life like he does, but in reality if I ever got diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's Disease I think I would probably check out while I still had the ability to do so.

My dad had ALS ... actually, not painful per se. Uncomfortable and weird - aside from knowing you are gonna die, etc. the muscle twitches are really annoying.

A co-worker's father was just diagnosed with ALS last week. I guess he went in for something else and was told. :(

One of the things that really bothered my Dad for years was that it was undiagnosed, even though he saw plenty of specialists... the ALS diagnosis was a "well, we've tested everything else possible, so process of elimination says it is this"
