Godspeed Buck...

I had the pleasure of meeting him a couple years ago. He did some local radio for the GOP here in Skagit Valley, and spoke at a retirement community on Veteran's Day. I bought his book and shook his hand.
What struck me was how certain he was in who he was, what he believed in, and what he stood for. He was tall, and powerfully built even still with an appraising eye and a firm grip.
I'm a Navy vet who sat off the coast, watched the cruisers and destroyers launch Tomahawks, and played plane guard during Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. I felt like a poseur standing in front of him after reading the Ambrose book and seeing the mini-series.
At that moment, I understood why they were called "The Greatest Generation."

You were no poser. You joined up and were willing to face whatever came your way. Your risk may have been less, but it was a risk very few are willing to take. Stand tall Veteran.
