The fire and the others are different technology. The Fire is an LCD screen and the others are eInk. Big difference on how much eye strain for some people.

I wrote in my textbooks. and drew graphs. and highlighted. And still own many of them for my own reference. When you pay $1000 for a metallurgical processes & materials properties book... you use it.

If there were links in the indexes (maybe there are?) I could see this being cool. Clicking on words in the index taking you to the linked pages automatically....

+1 As an engineering student, I can't see how ebooks would suit my needs.

Somehow we are missing a big point here. Info in such a book is not new. This is a collection of known facts and processes. How could they charge $1000 for it? Because some institute of higher learning says you need it to take the course. This is fresh warm steaming BS on top of old BS. That book should cost $25 new!

Brick and Mortar Colleges will go the way of Blockbuster in not too much time.
