 Renaissance Man

Anyone catch this yet? On the "Velocity" channel The host is Alain De Cade - something or other. I really like this show. For me; an all things mechanical guy, the show is the equivalant of Nat/Geo in it's presentation, cinematography and especially the host. Alain always comes across to the viewing audience as very genuine and credible.
It is clear HE has a passion for all things mechanical and their history. This show does it for me. I believe he also hosted another series some years ago about the origin and history of different European manufacturers. That was also very, very good. |

Haven't missed one episode. Alan De Cadenet is a delight to listen to.
His other show was Victory by Design. |

I caught the bike show a week or two ago, very well done. Pretty cool to see him riding the old bikes on the banking, what a show.
Not that many show's on Velocity but it seems I record half of them. |

Alain De Cadenet is my hero. :)

Excellent program. I also have the Victory by Design series of which he host.

Saw the DVR'd Mini - segment last night - loved it!

You can sure tell it is not a typical American made series. There is a LOT of small detail and background. They spend a lot of time discussing tiny details that just get skipped in most car related shows. Some very long detailed interviews, not 30 second clips jammed together.
I have enjoyed the series. It is amazing how much bigger the new Mini is when it is next to an original Mini. |

again...... to me it is the Nat/Geo of cars, motorcycles, aircraft, etc. Extremely well done. If any comparison to the US car programing...................would be polar opposite

Alain de Cadenet does a great job with everything he hosts. I saw him (or his doppelgänger) at the Porsche Lit Show last Saturday.

I Tivo it every week. Excellent show!

Hey - also Alain and some others toss around a phrase - "bespoke" engineering - someone explain please

"Bespoke" - unique to, exclusive to, original to.

I'm enjoying Renaissance Man too...very well done. The Velocity Channel has a pretty good lineup of gearhead shows. I also like the American Icon series hosted by Chip Foose which is currently focusing on muscle cars. |

On one of the VBD episodes he spoke one of his most memorable lines as he started a vintage Jaguar--"let's go ahead and brew it up". He is a class act in both knowledge and presentation. I hope the feedback to Velocity helps in more of his program development.
Anyone notice the standard denim shirt and khaki pants he always wears? TG Littleton,Co 1986 930 2005 Cooper S |

Another great history/tech show is "Connections" with James Burke.
He bounces from one thing to another to corrolate the evolution of our modern world. |

Finally a 'high brow' automotive program that appeals to those of us that have evolved from drinking pabst blue ribbon while wearing wife beaters..............
