Anyone have a Rainbow vacuum?

I picked one up off CL this morning for a hundred bucks and it's nice with all the attachments. I've looked before and the used ones are a few to several 100 because new they cost around 1500.

I tried it out and like it. The carpet powerhead seems a little cheesy. I sure would not have paid a whole lot more for this machine or any at all for the powerhead. The rest is just a vac, but the water thing is cool. No bags, no dust.

Who else has one? Any tips?

They work great. Expensive. I have a broken one and we have a conventional one. The rainbow is a good unit.

I bought a 5 gallon bucket and some hoses and made a Rainbow for sanding drywall

..really, I bought a pre-made bucket with hose and sanding block. It worked really well until the shop vac filter gets wet and gypsum dust plugs it up.

Never used a Rainbow, but it should work well. When I was selling Kirby vacs one summer, the rainbow was lile our top rival.

throw a touch of vanilla extract [or peppermint, depending on what you like,] into the water.
makes the place smell good.

Both overpriced. It's a stupid MLM scheme. That's why I have never had one. I've wanted one for years.

Back in high School, a friend of mine was Selling Rainbows and had a door to door sales route through the higher end neighborhoods.

One thing he was instructed to say, with the waterbong feature no dust, smells, or odors will pass through..............

On a sales call, a customer lady said to him "well if you fart in the bath tub, you can smell it clearly and instantly, what's the difference???"..............grins, he quit the same day.

My mom had one for many years it worked great. I thought the water as a filter was a pretty good idea.

The difference is about 6000 RPM. Now, if she could get that type of performance out of her ass....

Anyway, that would have been my retort. I don't have to quit when I'm done.

Zeke, sorry for the useless post, but I couldn't help myself.

I bought a used Rainbow in Lexington SC 15 years ago it works great paid 150.00 and installed a new power cable.
It takes a few steps to put it to use but there isnt any dust flying around after i am done and it gets a lot of dirt into the tank, so it must really suck

My mom had one when I was in high school, I used to hate cleaning that disgusting water tank. I would never own one by choice.

We bought a used one 7 years ago and it was already 15+ years old. Works great. It's a pain in the a$$ to lug up and down stairs, but the feeling when you dump that dirty water is very gratifying.

Zeke- What the heck and why did I read your post? I just ask the wifey what is that odd water vac we have and she tells me its a Rainbow. Never thought much about and have no idea who paid for this $1500 gadget... laugh Scott

Now thats funny, I've seen a rainbow in action and its pretty impressive, I did see a 6000 rpm a$$ the other day but he was driving a vette.
Thanks for the laugh
