icloud sux
icloud is a corporate conspiracy to get you to buy more apple crap.. I am convinced.
Its a scam stay away beware... my sh** is all bricked up. It works only with the newest products, so if you have some new stuff and some old the old stuff will be tossed under the bus. |
I find it to work very well and to make synchronization of all my data simple, easy, painless. It happens without my thinking about it, which is nice and the 5GB free storage limit is enough for everything except photos and movies which I handle manually anyway. For email, calendar, etc. it's very nice.

Redsnow, that is all I will say

Doesn't it require that you have the latest software? My office computer OS is 10.5.8, my laptop is 10.5.x(?) and my iPhone is whatever the latest iPhone OS is. I've tried to use iCloud to synch my address book on all my stuff, but I keep being told I need to upgrade my equipment. The iCloud concept seems great, but like jt, I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars just to automatically synch my stuff.
|
Mt 2nd gen iPod touch seems to handle everything ok. But really I only sync mail anyway. I'd have left mac/me/icloud except I signed up on day 1 and actually got my name @mac.com. That's a long time to be with one email address.

but it has such a cute name . .. iCloud
doncha know that anything -i- is wonderful? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1331220204.jpg |

You will be assimilated!
|
Its just that it could work, but does not. It is engineered NOT to work across many different apple products/platforms. They do this constantly. They are so smart but annoying. My new nano and iphone do not sync with my older lap-top. Maybe I could get it to sync but a total pita... its not plug and play. Anyway, iMpissed, iVented. Nice onesie btw.
|
I'm not using it much as I as still on 10.6.8 on my laptop. But from what I've seen if you're on the current computer and iOS versions it is seamless.
As for assimilation, Apple has nothing on Google. These days it is just picking who you think is slightly less evil with your data. |

It works fine to sync iphone pictures with a PC. I guess Apple had no OS to sell on PCs, so they just made it work as standalone software. It is seamless. I take pictures of the work I am doing on the Porsche with the iphone, and seconds later they are in the PC ready to download on PP...

and with the apple TV it works great also- apple and PC moving files back and forth like they were Oklahoma cousins |
