Where was the picture taken? And if you go to Mariposa, drop off your shipping gun case so I can give Targa some work.

I chase 'em right out of the grocery store into the fryer.

Awwww yeah!

Season doesn't open here until April 15th. We'll be out there.

Just got back from a walk not too long ago and saw about 30 in two groups. They were all in one guys pasture about half a mile away and haven't been around my property for awhile. A couple of years ago I gave a guy permission to bow hunt for them on my property and his son about 12 yrs. old bagged one in the 23 to 25 lb. range. He even got a little write up with a picture in one of the local rags. I've never eaten one but have always been curious.

I just sent in my picks for the land I hunt on. Good News Cliff...we've not got a huntable population of hogs...hope you and Jack can come down!!! I'll prolly take a sniff around this weekend. Marv, any chance you let Pelicans bowhunt your property? 1st one I get ALWAYS goes to the landowner ;)

Oh... Not a good thread!!! I'm obsessed with turkey hunting!!! I love chasing them with a bow. Season starts in May here in NH. I might take my daughter hunting for the first time, she's 8 years old.

Vash,
Hope your shoulder doesn't get too sore. |
Lowyder993, If I had more property it would work out OK, but I only have 2.5 acres. But the main thing seems to be that they don't come around like they used to. Once in a while we have 10 to 20 walking around the house, but that's rare now. If they get to where they hang around I'll PM you. Another possibility would be to try to talk to whoever owns the places down the road and ask about bow hunting there. When I'm outside during turkey season, I see guys in pickups wearing camos driving up & down the road, so I imagine the turkeys get wise pretty soon. The kid who got the one on my property was really happy.

I am going up to the Bay Area for the opener.
Last year there were a lot of birds too but none were cooperating. Unless you stalk them (good luck!), they have to be in the mood, otherwise the sheer number of them doesn't count. The year before then, we got 2 Turkeys 5 minutes after calling. :D Report back with pictures. BTW - I like Jakes and Bearded Hens - better eating! G |
