Diners, Drive-ins and Dives
Diners, Drive-ins and Dives
I have been tuning in to this show for quite some time now. Invariably, at least once every episode, I see something made that makes my mouth water. Anyone else here a fan? However, I have found that what is presented on TV often does not reflect reality. To this point, I have been to 12 places that have been featured on the show. Of those, there was only one place that met my expectations. The others were only OK. A few were downright disappointing. Over the weekend, I went to one place where I was really looking forward to trying one of the sandwiches that had been featured on the show. When I tried to order it, the waitress told me that they don't make that one any more. When I asked about the other two that had been featured, I was told that they discontinued those as well. When I asked why they did not make those anymore, the waitress just bit her lip, then suggested something else. I got the feeling that they were probably losing money on those items. I guess I will frequent some of the places from the show if I happen to be nearby one. But, I doubt I will seek any of them out anymore. However, I'll continue to watch. |

I like the show and the host but have fallen off watching...
I mean how many times can you watch the same formula... he pulls up in his cool clasic car... stands in the kitchen and ooh's and ah's while the chef throws stuff in a pan... host eats it and has a orgasm... has this guy ever eaten anything he didn't like? I have seen a place in Portland, OR and one in Long Beach, CA on the show that I would like to try. Problem with these shows is they turn little hole in the wall restaurants into trendy hot-spots. The place you went to, maybe they stopped making those sandwiches because the crowds just go too crazy. Case in point, Voodoo donuts... they are good... but wait in a line a block long? Come on they are just donuts!

If you go to the Website you get some of the recipes for some of the things that they feature. I have made the Jalepno, attichoke sausages wrapped in corn husks..they did turn out to be good..even if a bit time consuming to make

They feathured an italian restauraunt in Ana-slime that I've been going to on and off for 25 years, Mamma Coza's.
The stuff they showed on TV was the food I probably would not order, and they missed the really good stuff. |

No point in adding anything to that comment. Jim
