Man.... almost wish I was an alcoholic ....

LSD helps to treat alcoholism : Nature News & Comment

Oh well.

dipso 03-09-2012 06:24 PM

It's not as glamorous as it seems. Although I did take plenty of LSD in preparation.
So far, so good.

Let's say I'm familiar as well...this data as also reflected in the article is kinda old for someone to be sifting through research papers and drawing current significant conclusions. Not to mention these conclusions have already been drawn long, long ago. This stuff is like cowboy science though, don't ya think? There is no formula for how someone will behave when under the influence, I can tell ya first hand, that one. There's better 'research' info in the stories of the Grateful Dead! They found out the hard way what happens when you give this stuff to Hells Angels. Sorry for being a downer. For the record, I miss the Dead...

And I'm sure alcoholism is a cure for LSD overuse.

Plus Heroin/Methamphetamines/cocaine, I'm sure is an excellent cure for any other addiction. If these people are stupid enough to get an addiction to something like alcohol that's their problem.

It's your turn to flip "Wish You Were Here", let's hear side 2 again... and grab me another beer while you're at it.... are there 2 moons out tonight?

LSD/mushrooms/peyote are not addictive drugs.

Not the drugs but the usage of them.

szyzygy 03-09-2012 07:49 PM

If you've never tried it, don't knock it. Not for everyone, I guess, but a lot of people have a bad opinion of these things and have never tried it.

???

addictive drugs by their very nature cause people to continue to use them in spite of themselves.

Yes, but we are discussing the fact that these drugs are not addictive, but the users are addicticted to the lifestyle and the pleasure they get from the use of them.

By that logic though Bill, anything you might enjoy and continue to do could be titled addicting. A car hobby for example.... ...and potentially destructive to your finances, takes time away from your family, etc... :)

Thanks, but I'd rather alcohol, now.

Agree. Some people select gambling as their (addiction) way of destroying the family.

LSD and mushrooms are good at opening emotional doors. I'm sure that the relief of being suddenly unburdened of a trauma can send lives in a more positive direction.

But they are not things to be toyed with. There is a reason that only the shaman dispensed drugs in primitive societies.

Lsd, at serious doses has a tendency to make people Appreciate life more the they did before.
And few people come out of a serious trip going, wow, let's go back there as soon as possible.

It's. Quite a lot of experience to process, introspective digging and what not.

It can and often will get self destructive people , whatever their methods, drugs, drink, behavior, violence nce, to change their ways.

I know for me it did me more good then anything else in my life.
And I did not turn into a hippie.

a young girl said LSD is like a 12 hour refresher course in everything you ever knew

all nontoxic drugs should be legal and cheap

my religion is sex drugs and rock&roll
where is my religious freedom

My friend was/is/remains an Alcoholic, he goes to Malibu every couple of years to dry up.

I wish that I were an alcoholic, with his insurance plan?

I'm sure you are not serious, but still, be careful what you wish for!

A good bender every now and then is good for the brain. A good bender every day, not so good.

This post reminds me of an old joke. An old guy says, "if I knew I was going to live this long I would have drunk more".:)

Yes, I definitely stick to alcohol, red wine before supper and during supper.
