I just bought a Apple 8GB iPod Touch – Current Gen

On woot for $154.99:

I've owned iPods before but never a "touch".

Looking forward to something to keep my contacts in and whatever else it can do for me (music, email, photos, etc.)

Anyone else use one of these? If so please feel free to add your opinions on what it's best use is for you.

Gracias! ;)

Games, web, music, apps..... Everything...

An iPod Touch is an iPhone without the phone (not sure if they still have the GPS too). So anything that you can do with an iPhone (except phone calls) can be done with the touch. I'm not sure if you can use something like Google Voice or Skype to make calls over wifi. That may be the case.

Regular price is $199. Refurbished for $45 less is definately a good deal, but not an amazing deal.

I had an older version (pre camera) an loved it. I only sold it after I got an iPhone. I used it for surfing the web, watching movies, playing games, and of course music. It was very nice to have while traveling.

Put it in one of these cases.....

I really like the screen protectors sold here
iFrogz | iPhone Cases, Sleeves, Covers & Earbuds
or another similar product is the "Greatshield Ultra Anti-Glare".

They really help with reflections and oil smears.

If I had an iphone 4, I'd get one of these from the top link.

Hey guys...thanks for all the comments. And the cover link, Sidney.

I think I will mostly use this for music.

But having a way to take and store photos (other than using just my digital camera which is great for taking photos but lousy for displaying and will not of course email them) for business applications.

While my phone does have a camera - I don't really use it. It's not a "smart phone" either so not ideal for emailing, etc.

If I can set this iPod Touch up for email it will come in handy on occasion too. I wonder if that is possible with Virgin Mobile, my current cell phone provider. Maybe that depends on my plan - I'll have to check.

Then there are occasions when I want to find something on the net.

And as I mentioned in my initial post - I've always wanted a single storage area for all my contacts - other than my phone which is cumbersome to access info on. I'm excited to be able to set this up.

Here's a review I ran across on You Tube....this guy really loves the aesthetics of it:

The iPod touch only works on wifi. So anywhere you have wifi you will have email. What is your email provider?

I've had the 32G I-Touch for almost 2 years......With Skype and Google voice, it is a phone when you have wi-fi.....Used it a lot when out of the country.

I use it to check email and surf web when out to a restaurant/bar or when I have company over and don't want a laptop in front of me.

My old Ipod died and I wanted to learn about Smart Phones (App's) w/o paying a monthly charge.....Some need to be connected to the web thru their phone for their jobs. I don't. It's been a great learning tool. Enjoy.

Bob:

Thanks for the input - sounds exactly like what I need as well. Sometimes to check the weather radar, get directions somewhere, store data & photos, music, and yes perhaps Skype even. I have some friends in Australia who Skype and with the camera/video feature it'd make things very interesting....:p
