Couple weeks ago was "Ferrari Friday"...so I took it into work. My nephew works in the company and had him take it out for a wash and a fill up. Came back w/ a 62 in a 45 ticket. Needless to say he no longer will be driving it. Later that day, I get popped for no seatbelt (8th time, only 1 ticket). Expired hard copy license (waiting on other in mail), no current insurance. Officer and I had a 10 min conversation on the side of the road, asked if he wanted to race to the next exit, etc. No ticket again, but it seems if they haven't made up their mind on you and you're cool w/ them, you can get a pass. YMMV.

I lived just off Oso for 2 years and just up the road for 11 more. People in that part of OC drive insanely fast. I don't miss that place at all.

I catch myself 5 over quite a bit and sometimes 5 under. But I would know if I was doing 67 no matter where I was. That's a ticket you gotta own up to especially since the cop wrote it down to 62. How does he justify that anyway? Isn't there a memory in the gun?

It's ok for the cop to lie, as long as it's just to make it less likely for you to show up in court and fight it?

Why do you not wear a seatbelt? Serious question, not trying to flame you or this thread. You just don't like wearing it?

If I got a ticket in my gullwing I would say to myself "damn! I have a gullwing!". That is my favorite car on the planet.

At Cars and Coffee I was told about the California Traffic Ticket Attorney / Lawyer | The Ticket Clinic California | Speeding Ticket Lawyer in California I may give that whirl.
Heard lots of good things about that company.

The guy gave you a brake, and you are going to fight the ticket....? You better not cross the officer again in the near future.

Be a man, pay up....

They're was a group of 4 cars speeding, I just happen to be the first in line.

So why does that matter? That's just (bad) luck of the draw. Most likely you were the first one he got the gun on.

Did you ask him "Why me? The other guys were speeding as well!" If you did it's a lousy excuse, plus you just admited guilt, he wrote it down after you left and he has it on camera.

You didn't really answer the question. So why not a seatbelt? Not cool? Too much trouble?

speeder 03-11-2012 01:46 PM

I wear a seatbelt mainly because I don't need to be getting pulled over for not wearing a seatbelt 8 times. That would annoy me far more than wearing a seatbelt.

When I was younger, maybe 25 years ago, I used to not wear seatbelts. This was before widespread SB laws. One day I started wearing it after some close call and now I feel weird w/o it on. It's just whatever you're used to, IMO. You get used to wearing one and it feels weird w/o it.

Anyone riding in my car wears a seatbelt or they can jog next to the car. I don't need to be getting pulled over for that chicken schit.

9dreizig 03-11-2012 01:54 PM

In my mind it's not about getting pulled over for no seatbelt, it's the safety factor.. I don't back out of the driveway without it buckled,, and in the tracdog that means a full 5 pt harness..

jyl 03-11-2012 03:08 PM

This thread is sliding over into whineage . . . drive fast -> get the occasional speeding ticket. That's life.

Shuie 03-11-2012 06:59 PM

I'd have pulled you over and given you a warning just so I could get a look at the car.

Sick!!!! What kind of company has Ferrari Friday? I need a job there!

Jrboulder 03-11-2012 07:20 PM

Is this a joke?

You were going 22 over and were given a lesser ticket. Now you're *****ing about it.

If you don't want a ticket drive slower or buy a radar dectecor.

Joe Bob 03-12-2012 07:42 AM

Most tickets are arbitrary.....coming back from San Diego, the limit is 70. I passed a CHP and my detector was screaming. Some SUV passed me doing 85-90. The CHP took another sip of his coffee.
