Not at all. I can use the ATM at pretty much any credit union in the country for no fee.

Anyone can use USAA financial services. It's just their insurance business that is military related. USAA bank is used to serving it's members world-wide via the internet and there are NO ATM fees. They also have a very good Master Card w/cashback and low interest rates. I don't think you can beat them for value and service and no-fees.

I'm just concerned with a branch or ATM for the occasional cash. My check will be a direct deposit.

At Tinker credit union I can get cash at any 7-11 for no fee at all. 7-11s are everywhere. They pay 3.25% on my checking account. That is way better than any CD I can find.
