autotrader.com
For an internet site with paying advertisers...it's a relative turd from a reliability standpoint. That is all.
|
I used the print version for years, before they went digital, and found it a great resource. Even the on-line version started out decently but has degenerated into a waste of time and of no real value to me. A victim of too much competition, I believe, from eBay, CL, and specialty sites like Pelican, most likely.

It seems it used to be mostly individuals, but has become more of a dealer oriented site.
|
I agree, it is mainly a dealer site nowadays. This makes it completely useless IMHO. I never buy used cars at a dealership.

So besides Craigslist and local ads, is there a decent internet by-owner site??

Autotrade is a national market for dealers. Just as cars.com, craigslist, edmunds, nada, kbb and the rest. They pay to bulk list their inventory.

I used autotrader recently to sell a 2000 M5. I got a ton of hits and resulted in a sale. Who cares if dealers advertise there. Hits are hits.
