LED's-old news now!Why advertise their uglyness?
I realize that LED brake lights at least are a new gimmack . Making everyone go for the light show.
I can understand how the car makers wished to show those little bulbs and be a bit futuristic. Perhaps it's still a status symbol in a cheap way-Hyundai........ Now isn't it about time the car makers put a lens over it so you can't see those stupid little balls of light. Tonight I saw a cadillac with the led's on the arse lights. The led's were staged upon each other and towards the top of the light it was not fluid in style. Isn't it about time the car makers put a lense over those little bulbs . Yes, at one time it was a selling point -look at me I'm L.E.D. Now , I think it's over done. Cover them and appreciate the speed of -off-and-on!

Now in 993 land ...

5 years from now they change it and everyone will need new cars not to look outdated. It goes well with the fake air intake louvers on the fenders every car (including the Focus) needs to have thee days.

I dont think so guys. LEDs use a fraction of the electric load of "bulbs". That means a tiny bit better gas mileage, which every car maker is scrambling for. They also last virtually forever. Car makers will go back to bulbs when they go back to carburetors.

Too big to fail

I wonder about the 'virtually forever' lifespan of LED's. They installed them in the elevators here @ work about a year ago when they remodeled everything, and already 25%-30% of them are dead.

They do seem to last, but I've seen a few crap out on cars. They seem to go the same way they do on streetlights - where they just go into flicker mode a few at a time. Just a few days ago I was behind a Mercedes where 3/4 of one brake light would stay on and the other 1/4 just flickered a lot.

What I believe he was trying to say was instead of being able to see each individual led ![]() I believe the OP is trying to say that a diffuser lens should be put over the top of the LEDs to make them look like one big bulb. What really seems to be the latest fad is "eye liner" on cars. Audi seems to have started it with the R8, and now everyone is doing it. Lexus seems to have adopted it and I've seen it retrofit on to civics and crap like that. ![]()
