ok, who knows old Marlin .22?

i've searched. growing up i had a semi-auto .22. it was a definitely a marlin. it was very similar to the model 60, with that tube magazine. except with my rifle, the tube magazine did NOT extend the length of the barrel like on the M60. it only ran to the end of the fore-stock and that was it. my brother and i turned my mom's house upside down and sadly, we never found it. maybe my parent loaned it out.

what was it? some youth model?

I'm going to guess that you had a Marlin model 99-M1

They were manufactured in the 70s, iirc, and were designed to appeal to those people who like the look and feel of the M1 carbine.

You can find them used, but they were not plentiful. There's one on Gunbroker right now.

It's not in great shape, though.

There is a gun store here that has a used one instock right now! Don't recall the price. The name of the business is "Moultrie Shooter Supply". The phone # is 229-890-7383. Ask to speak to Lindsey or Denver. Tell them Fred Cook sent you! Great guys to work with. Good luck!

Aw damn. I'll call today. Thanks Fred. I might get it for my bro. He shot my first rifle as much as I did. Day one I remember trying to take it apart. Dad was so annoyed. I was 11.

Yep that's Irvin. One of my best buddies from when I lived in Tampa. I bought both my big Airedales from him and his lovely wife Kee-um. Still talk to him occasionally, which of course is an hour conversation lol. Great big lovable guy that loves dogs and fast cars. How can ya not like a guy like that.

Wow, small world! I assume that he has told you about the yellow Corvette that he bought 2-3 years ago. Irvin used to work in an office just across a parking lot from where my office was located. He did central office engineering and I was responsible for doing the OSP (outside plant) planning and budgeting. Often times a project that I needed would require the addition of central office bits and pieces.

Yeah I know about the yellow vette. I miss his visits. Of course every time I visited him I went home with a dog! If you see him tell him I said hello.
