Cainhoy plantation burnings?? There is the McDowell Cemetery at the corner, hoping the smoke is not coming from there.

I ran into thick fog like that after midnight a lot. Once was in huntington Beach. From SCal to Sacramento, you will see that a lot on certain season and certain hours after midnight. I use drive this rount alot, years ago. Once, I drove to New York. After the first day, ran into fog at night almost every night, and all night. Later, I figured out that big truck don't have the problem we do, because they sit high. And driving behind them helps, because they blow the fog out around them when they move. Also, we can see their tail light as a guide.

I ran into something like that in CA 10 years ago. Heading north on I-5 at night trying to make the sacramento area and I hit fog, really thick fog and literally could not see past the front end of the car. Same thing, hit the breaks, flashers on, radio off and where are the lines. Crawling along looking for an out, all of a sudden a car goes zipping by me, holy crap. Then another, I need to get off this freeway. I was sure I was going to get run over. I have never been so scared in my life.

I once found myself driving, on the freeway, in fog so dense I had to look out my side window and down to track the white dashed line to ensure I at least stayed in my lane. At night. With two sleeping children in the back seat. Very spooky.

Scary stuff for sure. I've had it happen twice on the bikes. The first time I was in the ADKs and it was a wierd almost freezing fog. As soon as I rode into it my visor was covered in ice. So I lifted the visor and my glasses became coated in ice! Man I couldn't get off the road fast enough!! Good thing I did though because it became a real freezing fog about a half of a mile up the road according to the highway patrol that stopped to check on me.

That's the area I'm talking about. There was a temporary sign up yesterday saying "SMOKE". A little later though, as there was none.

I'll have to drive back there to see what's going on. Hard to believe they can burn for months, even if they were develping it.
