OBD based vehicle GPS Tracker

There are a few of them out there. They include web based monitoring. Does anyone have experience with these?
These are the units that simply plug into the OBD port.
If your car was stolen it would be easy to find if they had not removed it.

I can't imagine a car thief who could figure out how to steal my 993 would not immediately remove such a device sticking out from the OBD port next to his right leg. Total waste of money for me.

My brother has a tracker in his car. Hard wired and concealed.

He had to opt out of some of the monitoring. Apparently you only get a certain number of free notifications for things like exceeding the posted limit then they start charging. It was getting expensive.

They are good for tracking your teenagers too. That's what I'm looking for.

the guy in the cube next to me has one for his 16yr old and a web cam to see when she gets home from school.

seems she is quite the handful. borrowed moms jeep before she had her license, hit a guy and returned car to the garage didnt say a word. dad notices the dent right away. 95% of what she is earning in her first job is being garnished to pay for the damage to the other car.

the web cam links to his phone so he know what is going on and grills her pretty bad on bad behavior

They make a few of these apps for phones although I am not sure they are reliable. You could slide on on your kids phone. They are designed to run in the back ground (allegedly)
