Will be towing 911 1300 miles on dolly,car has no motor or trans , Any thing I should do or know Thanks

What are you pulling it with? By dolly, do you mean only two wheels off the ground? What type roads and elevation changes will you be going through?

Think it thru- day night rain dry, lights, brakes, trans temp, last oil change, tires. If two wheels of the 911 to be on the road, carry at least one extra tire. If on a trailer, four point tie down. Take your time.

A dolly is a two-wheel trailer, so two of the Porsche's wheels are on the ground. Nothing really to know. Just check and re-check everything, often. They come loose with miles

Will be towing with ford explorer , Two wheels of ground two on dolly, Towing from north carolina to Toronto canada. Thanks

Check the straps on the dolly after the first 20 miles, then again after 20 miles ect until they stop becoming "loose". after that every time you stop to fill up the ford or empty you. If you run into trouble in Central Va, catch up with me and I will see what I can do to help. The best way would be to make a post on the Stijn thread. A lot of those folks have my phone number. Are there any axles in it, you should remove them if so, as you don't want them flailing around.

Depends on what year and axles, doesn't it? I think Carreras have the one piece hub/axle at the outboard end. If I'm correct, I'd tow that one backwards. You don't wan't to tow any Porsche with no rear hubs in place.

Speaking of backwards, if there is no engine the rear wheels will be seriously positive cambered and out of toe alignment. I wouldn't tow a 911 with engine on a dolly forward because the butt will drag at every bump.

Might think about tying the steering wheel and dragging it from the back.

With almost zero weight in the rear, you wouldn't hurt the tires much.

But I'm not sure about the axles. Milt might be right

yes it depends on thehub type......
if it doesn't have a hub where the axle bolts to it then the bearing will come apart and you'll be minus a wheel.....
easiest way to tell is look at the back side of the hub, if there are 6 holes around it to bolt the cv to it then you are ok........the hub compresses and holds the bearing together....
long day....i know there is a better way to explaine that....
