Sure, you could but you'll almost always do better selling them yourself.

Mom's cars. She can't field Craigslist calls. I'm not in town.

I've never placed an ad to sell a car.
Do what everyone else does. Find a high traffic area close to home where you can leave the car during the day. Big for sale signs in the windows and a list of answers to common questions, year, mileage, known issues, contact info. The calls will be fewer but from interested parties that have already kicked the tires. If you've priced it fairly it'll be gone in a weekend or worst case a week. |

You can trade multiple cars on one purchase. In some states, you only pay sales tax on the trade difference, so there's a tax advantage to trade. Dealers are paying big money for clean, low mile trades. You may do better than you think. However, just like the new car, you need to do your homewoek and shop around to get the best deal. If not, sell one or both yourself.

Vash,
If the cars are only a few years old and / or have low mileage, you can bring them to Carmax. Even if they are older, give it a shot. Your mom can do that without hassle. Go there, wait about 30 minutes for them to inspect the car and make her an offer that is good for 1 week. It really is as painless as that. You can then remotely decide if the offer is decent and tell her to go ahead or not. I am not shy selling privately but sold my last car to Carmax - they surprised me with a great offer. G |
