Awesome! Glad you got around to getting it running.

Here's mine (after restoration), before I brought it home from WA (and before the new front springs & drop spindles went in).

That's a great looking '69 Adam!

Here's a few progress pics. Rebuilt rear drums, rebuilt Autolite 2100 carb, and all new front brakes.

I can't quite tell from the pic, but is yours a 2bbl car? Mine was originally and while it wasn't real powerful, it was so damned smooth and surprisingly fuel efficient.

Nice work on the brakes - they make a huge difference with these old sleds.

Yes, Autolite 2100 2bbl. After I warmed it up I gave it full throttle a few times, power was adequate but not overpowering. I want to get it running right this spring, then next winter I may consider some bolt-ons like a 4bbl and manifold, heads, headers, cam, etc. It won't ever be a hot rod, after all it's a C4 automatic convertible.

I'm interested to see how well the brakes operate when it's all done. I'm very lucky to start with a power front disc brake car. I went with the best semi-metallic shoes I could find, Hawk Street pads up front, stainless steel brake lines, and I'm replacing EVERYTHING.

That looks a lot like the 302 in my '70 F-100. If you have any tips for how to tune the carb I'd love to hear them. Otherwise, at least on mine replacing the vacuum advance and cleaning/adjusting the breaker points made a lot of difference as to how well it runs.

Steve, I bought a rebuilt carb that was supposedly flow tested and adjusted to the baseline specs. I'm not going to mess with adjustment until I do a full tune-up, then I'll see how it runs. I'm going to do plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil, and install an Ignitor because I hate points.

Nice. I'm curious how the ignition work goes once you do it. I'd really recommend having a look at the vacuum advance if it's original. When mine started to go out the truck would backfire out the intake on hard acceleration and got progressively worse. I think the inside is just a rubber diaphragm and spring and time took its toll on the rubber bits.

I did an Ignitor on my 1970 911T and was very happy with the result.

I've contemplated a rebuilt distributor just so I know it's working 100% correctly. Parts for these things are so cheap, it's easy to just replace everything.

BTDT.
My 65 is 50 years old & there is a lot of "everything"......it tends to ad up.

It does add up fast AND lot,s/most of the cheap stuff is made offshore . A Taiwan front fender @$100 vs an original will need some work to make it right before paint.
A new Taiwan bumper looks good for a while but the chrome isn,t very thick etc etc

Yeah, I was at the Portland swap meet and a local chrome shop had a front bumper FS for 200 bucks......I passed. Now I'm sorry.

The car is in the paint shop and , assuming a nice job, that old front bumper ain't gonna cut it. The spending is not over.....just the big numbers.

+1 on the Ignitor, I installed one on my Mustang and the 400 in Buick. I also went with a Mallory Dist. in the Mustang to get rid of the vacuum advance. I can look up the part if you want, I know exactly where the box is because it has the original dist. in it.

You got more done on the brakes on yours than I have on mine in 9 years... I have the back done with the set up from an 86 SVO Mustang. My son who is (9 coincidently) has been asking for me to get the 66 down and finish so we can drive it again.

Here is a the rear before I installed it in the Mustang. The wheels are American Racing Torque Thrusts in 16x9 and just a hair too big. I need some 16x8's I think.

Bill, I'd appreciate the part number. A bolt in electric ignition would be great.

I drove a very early white Mustang a few months ago, and it was a real blast from the past - it also had the auto. tranny which was not so great
