Beggars can be choosers - or at least, annoying

Just got in from Mickey Ds. While walking in, a 20-something guy asked if I'd buy him something to eat, or could I spare a few bucks. I passed.

Seconds later, the guy was in line behind me with another customer. He got two breakfast sandwiches, hash browns, and some weird custom coffee drink with caramel - probably 10 bucks worth of food.

His benefactor got a small coffee.

"Can I have the change?" he said, as she paid.
"No."
"How about a dollar?"
"No."
"Fifty cents? Come on, just fifty cents!"
"Nope."
"A quarter?"
"No."
"Can I order something else?"
"Sorry" she says, and leaves with her coffee. He looks around, sees me getting my order. "Can I have one of your sandwiches?"
"Yeah."
"What?" surprised, because I'm looking pretty ticked at his behavior.
"A knuckle sandwich. Want one?"
"That ain't funny, man!"
Older guy behind him in line - "Yes it is!"

It's surprising that the management would let the guy into the building, with behavior like that.

Harassing customers???

The customer brought him in. He was standing on the sidewalk calling to people when I came in, and she went for his pleas and let him come in to pick what he wanted. (I've seen dozens of homeless people refuse various types of food. My gf still fumes about the time she bought one woman with 2 kids an entire bucket of chicken, only to be told "Um, I don't like original.")

But yeah, the manager was getting sort of ticked while he pestered the lady for more while in line. Had I been the lady, I'd have just canceled the order and left.

We're really getting a lot of this kind of crap down here now. Warm weather all the time and a bunch of tourists make for a good breeding ground I guess.

You should have asked for a job application with your order and then handed it to the bum.

Zeke 03-25-2012 07:59 AM

As if he was employable. Come on. I have given fresh food to beggars, seldom money. I would never walk one in and let him have one word in the matter. If you don't like the Egg McMuffin I gave you, throw it away. You want a drink, go to the water fountain.

I'd have provoked a fight with him or made him cower in humiliation. I hate scum like that and I have a wicked mouth.

Por_sha911 03-25-2012 10:10 AM

So who is the idiot? Him for asking for the high dollar food and cash on top or the paying customer who didn't say "hey wait..."???
If I knew her, I would have chastised her more than him.

best answer - even if he is not employable...

I had a persistent woman and her about 10 YO girl harassing me in a supermarket parking lot, both going in and leaving. They were not near the market entrance but well out in the lot. They looked to me to be Gypsies. The "mother" was using a heavy accent and "bless you" in every other sentence.

The girl was walking behind the mother with her back arched inward and on her tip toes feigning some kind of disablement. I looked closely at her heels and they were worn. Not saying she couldn't have gotten them at the thrift store, but it all seemed a little put on to me.

Anyway, after being somewhat polite declining to give her any money, I lit into her on about the 3rd plea along with her incessant "God Bless" and and "Bless you." I can tell you this didn't phase her in the least. This is good act and the Gypsies are good at it.

At that moment a car with a couple of women rolled up and they opened up their purses. Suckers.

I do not mind buying someone a meal, and get a real kick buying someone in the military a meal. I do hate people trying to bum money, When they ask for money I always say "Dude I was gonna hit you up for a few bucks. The always walk away.

a guy came up to me and asked for money. i was in the wifes wrecked mercedes:

do you have some money you cae spare
no, why dont you go get a job
(then i went off)
my wife just wrecked the car and i dont have the money to fix it. i go to work every day. i owe $3000 to my daughters school...blah blah blah. why dont you give me some money. you probably have more than me.

after a few minutes of this, i think he was really regretting asking me for money.

I had a guy come up the other day asking if I could help out "a brother in need" with some money "...and not that change or coins bullshyte, you know paper money, maybe even a five or ten."

After I looked around for a hidden camera TV crew (didn't see one) I offered him a half large bag of Doritos I had in my car. "I don't want that $h*t man!" was the reply. I told him "Well, I guess you don't know what hunger is then, do you?".

I've always wanted to hang out on a street corner with a sign...

it would say "Free Money" and I'd see how many people would accept, say, $1 bills.

Were you then going to dump the money in a pool full of urine, blood and animal excrement?

If you want it, here it is, come and get it.
Mm, make your mind up fast.
If you want it any time, I can give it,
but you better hurry 'cause it may not last.

Did I hear you say that there must be a catch?
Will you walk away from a fool and his money?
