Opinions on IQ Drive High Seer A/C systems?

??? Good/bad or?

This is for a 6000 sqft/ac ICF house (walls and roofs) with Low E windows in South Florida (10 miles in from the coast).

Thanks!

I had five and three ton unit is Houston. High seer but not "smart" like the unit you are looking at. Cooled the house fast. Too fast as it cooled before the humidity could be stripped out so we had to do some odd ball things with the thermo and timer to strip out the humidity. i.e., middle of the night deep freeze for an hour so it would run long enough to dry. So from the standpoint of running your unit that modulates capacity vs full tilt all the time, it sounds perfect.

On the other hand, smart equipment can be very expensive to repair. My fancy variable speed motor on my Lenox furnace blower set me back $1,200 to replace.

We are having calculations prepared by Richard Rue of Energywise which he advises consider quantity and types of windows as well as the tightness of the envelope (air infiltration) in an effort not to oversize the units so ensure humidity control.

The system will include ERV and perhaps additional dehumidifying features/hardware.

My main concern is how "finicky" can the added circuitry be and how susceptible to "dirty" power it could be.

I really appreciate the info!
