How much do you sleep at night?

I am getting about 7 hours in bed with probably and hour spent trying to sleep.
I feel rested most mornings upon waking and never need the alarm to wake me but I begin to tire in the afternoon and a catnap for 30 mins is heavenly. Stopped caffeine a couple of weeks ago and have begun walking in the evenings for a mile or two. I am finding that I need less sleep as I get older. Mid 40's now.

I have begun to use a white noise app on smartphone and find that I am waking fewer times during the night.

Between 7 and 8 here.
I like to be in Bed by 10PM so I can be up at 6AM.
I find myself waking up before (5:30 or so) my Alarm goes off at 6AM.
So I am getting less than 8 on a daily basis and my body seems to Like it.
I have started "listening" to my body and it has been the BEST thing I ever done.
I am 40 years old.

M-F it's ~7 hours, typically, but more like 8 on the weekends. We live in the heart of the city, and I find a white noise generator is very helpful when trying to fall asleep.

Just long enough to let my bladder fill up. Then I start over again.

Insomniac - I get an hour here or there, usually about 5-6 total. I haven't slept a straight 8 hours in 30+ years. I wake up tired most of the time. Unfortunately my best sleep happens from about 6am-10am. I always wake up at around 4am and sometimes I get back to sleep, other times not. I usually can't get to sleep until after midnight.

Same here. It makes getting up at 5 for work a PITA.

Am usually out within 10 seconds of hitting the sack. Am in bed by 10:30 almost every night and wake up 5-5:30 in the morning. If I drink much after 9 pm I might have to get up to hit the head but usually sleep right through the night.

One thing that has really helped is taking a B-12 tab under the tongue at night. I find that when I do that I wake up a lot more alert. Am getting comfortably used to a 45 minute afternoon nap in my old age though...

Last night, 5 hours minus all the waking/tossing/turning. That's pretty typical, sometimes maybe an hour more. Sucks.

Best case, 6-7 hours. In bed by 10 PM, up at 5 AM. Worst case, will wake up during the night and take 1-2 hrs to get back to sleep...Ambian helps. I prefer bed after MN-1 AM, then up at 9 or 10 AM, but the job just doesn't support that. Truly hate the regimentation of this, but I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Ya'll give me hope, I'm not as "abnormal" as I thought

Usually 6-7 hours. I usually get to bed around 11, 10:30 when lucky. I desperately what to go to bed earlier so i can wake up earlier to exercise. I used to wake up at 4:20 to run, but was going to bed at 10.

I also noticed since I had kids, 12 years ago, I'm a much lighter sleeper. Anything wakes me up. I think its a protective instinct.

My wife needs 8+ hours. Kinds of sucks having different sleep cycles.

I usually go to bed between 9-930pm, wake up at 5am. Rough change with the new job as the old job was work from home so to be at work at 8am, i'd wake up at 7:45

I generally get around 7 hours. Any less I feel funky, any more my back begins to hurt for some unknown reason. While at work before lunchbreak is over, I try to nap.

Usually in bed by 9 or 930. Up at 4 am for my run. I often wake during the night around mid night and sometimes have a hard time going back to sleep. Often I wake a 3 and toss until the alarm goes off. Drinking alcohol really screws with my sleep.

Hmm... 30 minutes trying to sleep, 30 minutes up at least once in the night... I bed 7.5 hours... SO about 6.5 hours per night?

Always feel more motivated with 7.5-8 though...

On a good night I can go right back to sleep......but I'm normally up by 4:30-5 regardless.
An afternoon nap is glorious.

Working 3:30pm to 12:00am, but many times until 1am or more, I like 9-10 hours. I'm not ready for sleep until after 1-2 hours after getting home though. Gotta unwind.

The older I get, the more I need it seems.
