Make Up?

I get the idea I may be in a minority in the USA, but I'm curious how a vote falls with the infallible Pelican Brain Trust concerning women and make up.

So, do you find a woman more attractive with make up, or without? I'm in the without camp, and it seems women tend to think otherwise, as most seem to use it, and many to extreme levels. I do find it can catch my eye, but similar to a cheap fart can car with shoddy fiberglass and a badly sprayed paintjob, I don't like what I see.

I kinda like my women a little slutty :-)

island911 03-28-2012 05:27 PM

maybe you should have included other end points:

Burka
Makeup
No Makeup
Naked

I work in the movie biz, good make up you can't really see, especially with HD.

widebody911 03-28-2012 05:34 PM

Depends.

Some women look good with it.
Some women look good without out it.
Some women don't know how to do it.
Some look worse with it.

OP was obviously a "Mary Ann' kinda guy which fine, myself I was a 'Ginger' kinda guy. To me a perfect female face is one the looks hot as hell with make up and without make up shows natural beauty. My vote is make up.

In fact, Martina actually looked good with make up on in Dancing with the Stars

I think Thom summed it up pretty well.

masraum 03-28-2012 07:13 PM

I'm more a minimalist. So none, or maybe very little so you can't really tell it's there.

That's not to say that makeup is a turn off. When done right, even lots of unusual colors can be good.

speeder 03-28-2012 08:29 PM

You can't lump all makeup together, IMO. There is a big difference between heavy pancake foundation makeup and say maybe a little eye shadow or lipstick.

And Thom is right, they need to know what they're doing putting it on. That covers the whole "less is more" aspect and knowing whether they're going backwards or forwards, beauty-wise.

I had a GF who had a beautiful face and I was always imploring her not to wear makeup. She looked better w/o it, IMO.

aigel 03-28-2012 08:36 PM

It may have its place during a night out or used sparingly. But otherwise it is just a joke.

Here a few random thoughts:

If I may generalize, woman that use it daily and heavily are insecure and high maintenance. I also find it disturbing as women age. It looks like primer sprayed over a peeling paintjob. Also disturbing on fat ladies - you are 300 pounds and think some paint in the face will change the situation significantly? Lay off the hamburgers and ice cream! And finally, I like to do things and go places and not wait for someone to get ready for 45 minutes. Camping with a make-up lady? Out of the question ...

So, there you have it. If a lady is pretty, she doesn't need makeup. If she isn't, it won't make a difference (see old and fat ladies comments above).

Natural look for me, please.

me too!!!

mikeesik 03-28-2012 09:05 PM

What I don't understand or get-how did it come about and become the norm.

I look upon women as having more of a mask and less!

How they hide behind it!!

mikeesik 03-28-2012 09:07 PM

Thinking about the Batman movie with Jack Nicholson as the 'Joker'-he got rid of all make-up.

Just think ...if that were true. You could hump anything!!!

RWebb 03-28-2012 09:56 PM

this is somer-thang that varies by region "them Dallas women... aluminum dimples"

As many of you know, I am a hippie. Especially Sammy.SmileWavy

And I personally appreciate the look of a happy, healthy, FACE. Not a painting. A FACE. Trust me on this. Three days of make-up-free faces will prove it to you.

I am in the no makeup camp or very little. I don't like them all decked out. Just simple blue jeans and a simple tee shirt are the real babes.

futurefun 03-28-2012 11:26 PM

My lady was a make up artist for years with a light & subtle touch that is very natural looking.

DanielDudley 03-29-2012 02:03 AM

I was at an Italian car fest a few years back, and all the wives of the owners of a certain high end brand car were dressed and made up like hookers. I mean they could have been hookers. It was weird.

I'm not into that kind of war paint.

Joeaksa 03-29-2012 05:01 AM

Mom told me "toss the girl in the pool when you can. It washes off the makeup and you see what you are really getting for a girlfriend/wife!"

Tobra 03-29-2012 08:07 AM

I put none. The wife cleans up really well, and looks good with the hair and face done, but my preference is for au naturale.

Tervuren 04-03-2012 11:33 AM

Hmm, so it looks in the Pelican world, its pretty close.

I understand that I probably should of made a third choice of "light make up", but "light" is going to vary from person to person, so I made it black and white.

Make up like this, makes me feel like I'm talking to an undead corpse acting under the will of an evil necromancer. I'm keepin' distance. http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...06878363_n.jpg

Similar to Joaska's "throw her in the pool", same girl after hiking in pouring rain, a rare day on her part with minimum make up to start with. I find it frustrating, how a really gorgeous girl without all the war paint, feels the need to alter that appearance into something ghastly...I just don't get it...
