Well, that was weird.

I had pretty much the same thing go down on me in Loosiana. I come along in a lowered PU (not that low) with CA plates and a hard tonneau cover. The state patrol just knows I'm haulin' He does not have a dog, but he does have the 2nd officer in the 2nd car.

Well, I'm not and he finds nothing. What's weird is that I was carrying wrapped Christmas presents in late November to relatives in AL and I had a 9mm in a briefcase on the seat.

He must have liked me, because he didn't check either one. Once he'd gone through the contents of the PU bed, he was satisfied. He did have his reason for pulling me over.

Not a driving infraction, just some after market covers on my lights.

I removed them and went on my way.

Interesting video. I've been pulled over and had my car trashed and I know this kind of crap happens. It undermines respect for the police, and respect for the police is the only thing between civil society and anarchy.

Va may be backwards in a lot of ways but they need a warrant to search your car if you refuse consent. I have only been asked one time to allow for my car to be searched, I asked the cop if he had a warrant, he said no, I said there is your answer.

From the area, and it's not hwy 70 that's a problem, but hwy 55. Drug highway. Collinsville is bad about doing this, and this isn't the first time.

While we all know there are many more LEO's who quietly go about their work as we would expect - protecting and serving....unfortunately there's plenty (like this one) who not only give LE a very bad name - they are a detriment to society. I've had experiences with both - so I know.

Good for this citizen to spend the time to bring exposure to this corrupt cop.

I got stopped for 50 in a 45 on a US hwy the other day, cop asked me what the hurry was.....told him that given the fact that my car would hold cruise control faster than his car would travel, I didn't consider 5 over at all in a hurry........he continued to huff and puff and I reminded him that I'm local, a complete jerk and have tons of time to piss away should the need arise......explain to a dozen other locals why you wasted theirs and my time and money for this when some moron tourist from toronto/missouri/ohio is cutting across 4 lanes of traffic and nearly causing 3 wreck..........they keep it quiet, but there are an obscene number of wrecks here.........kills insurance rates for locals......

I was driving my VW camper with CA plates across Nebraska and was pulled over for no reason. I certainly wasn't speeding. The cop searched the car for a good hour, and was most excited when he found oregano in my spice supply. Of course, I had a full kitchen in the camper. Alas, the oregano was the strongest thing he found. After spending the whole time standing in front of the car in 95 degree humid heat, I was free to go. But he warned me to leave the state ASAP.

As an aside, I noticed that he knew nothing of the hidden compartment under the driver's seat. It was empty, but still. He really should have known about that.

Is there anything you can do about that? I would be pissed if he kept me there for an hour. I am in the camp that if they want to search your car, they will fine every way they can just to give you hell and rip your car apart.

Yeah, what's that going to do? What if its not on tape, then is your word against his. Azzhole like that do not llike to be question. I have had my share of crap from some local cop writing some BS ticket and held me there for about 30 minutes with a flash light in my face. I should clarify, is there anything one can do after you are let go with nothing found in the car.

Why would there be when you consented to the search? What are you going to complain about? That he didn't remind you you had every right to refuse the search?

Just llike the video, he did not want his car searched, but he brought the dog and forced it upon him. The probable cause is the dog smell something. What if that was not caught on tape? I would have like to ask to film the dog search up front just so the bastard would plan something in my car to cover his azz.

Huff should have asked for Reichert's watch commander or supervisor the second he was detained after he was told he was free to go. He should have told his passenger to STFU. Passenger doesn't have to answer a single question. And if a cop ever started asking me questions unrelated to the original reason for the stop, I'd interrupt him and ask if I was free to go. There is no need to assist or prolong the fishing expedition. Once the cop tells you the only reason you were pulled over was for weaving, as long as there's nothing in plain sight, you're not visibly impaired and your docs check out, the worst that should happen is a cite for failure to maintain your lane. Anything else is fishing and you should not play along.

What if the cop say no, you can't go even after he tells you what he stop you for? Did he have the right to ask the driver to step out of the car? The passenger do not have to answer anyof his questions? So what if you ask for his watch commander, what if he say no to that? If that wasn't on video, you will end up with the short end of the stick. With azzhole like that, I assume play along, but deal with it later with his commander or...?

I am also wondering if you can use your phone during this whole ordeal? Call his watch commander right there and then? Can or are you allow to tape the dog sniffing or search?

I have meet azzhole like that. This guy use to whack me with his flash light because I told me to turn that thing off and don't shine it in my face. I was a 19 year old know it all punk.
