How Differential Gear works
|
Ok - that was the most informative thing I've seen in days. Thanks for posting!

Very clever development of the illustration.

Nice. Even a child can understand that.

Cool! Thanks!

Who would have thought that 3rd order differential equations that are used to design bevel/helical gears could be reduced to this? This is my 'go to' video when I want to explain how a differential works. I work for the leading gear machine manufacturer, and I write software that allows the machines to cut the gears.

Good high school shop class stuff. Might be from a Jam Handy Production or the Chevrolet series in the mid-1930's. I have a collection of that stuff downloaded from archive.org.
Of vintage automotive movies, the archives site has great stuff. Standard Oil Company making fuels and cartoonish sims of gas flowing thru an engine to Hot Rod Magazine flicks on drag racing 1950. |
